Rational Thoughts After The Patriots

That was an entertaining game.  Like Corta said, it felt like a playoff game.  Players on both teams were battling every play.  Fans were loud.  A great game - except for coming up short at the end.  With minutes in the game left and the outcome still undecided, their D (barely) out dueled our O.

My takeaway is the Bills are still a year away.  Last year was the gut-the-team season  -  with the lowest payroll in the NFL, McD didn't have a chance.  This is the first year of the rebuild - and we've earned a wildcard spot with a bunch of scrappy no-names.  With a ton of cap space going into 2020, we'll have a great season if Beane and McD continue on the trajectory they on.

I'm still hoping for a small playoff run this year but am pinning most of my hopes on 2020.

Had the radio most of the day, and all people are saying is the refs this, the refs that. Yes there were missed calls, but people need to stop with this ref stuff. That is not why the bills lost. The bills lost to the better team, it's just that simple

You could not be more wrong about the refs not being the reason the bills at the very least don't tie this game up let alone lose. No, the Bills didn't play their best, but even at not their best, this game was close. Three MAJOR no call fouls can point to significant change in the status of this game. The not called intentional grounding call, the no call pass interference call on Gilmore against Brown, and the no call on face mask in the fourth when they were on the 20 yard line. The last one in particular prevented us from tying the game. it was 4th and 1 on the 20. JA gets the first down but if they actually called the FM penalty it's now 1st and goal at the 5 and not 1st and 10 at the 19. HUGE difference.

not to mention the rub/pick plays run all game by the Pats, culminating in Edelman feigning a concussion and finally getting called for one
