That really is amazing. The Steelers have to be one of the best run organizations in sports. Credit to the Rooney family. Hopefully the Pegula's can build something similar in Buffalo.

around 5 bad seasons since 1973?

starts with ownership Pittsburgh has had good ownership, patient stuck with Noll who started 1-13. 5-9, 6-8 in todays football he's gone

also had a four year stretch of 28-37 but had the super bowl teams under the belt by then.

Cowher had a three year run of no playoffs   7-9, 6-10, 9-7 no one freaked out

Tomlin has been a model of consistency  10-6 typicaly couple 11-5 couple 9-7

although Cleveland has won 5 or few games 9 of the 12 years nice has 2 freebies year in and year out

substitute new england for cleveland and those 10-6's are now 9-7  the 9-7 are now 7-8 and the 8-8 are 6-10's just switching out one team

Jealous? yes

starts with ownership Buffalo has poor ownership, and while Ralph was possibly "the" key to the AFL surviving and ultimately the merger and deserves to be in the HOF. A very generous man who Buffalo owes a lot too as a city. But....

as an owner he was over all brutal,  always last on coaches salaries not only for head coaches but all the assistants last in money invested into scouting. Always too involved hey i own the team- Rooney's never felt the need to do that- poor choices for head coaches and always meddling

Since Pegula's ownership you can't fault him for Marrone as he inherited him, nor him leaving under a ridiculous contract clause from Russ

Made a poor choice with Rex who was only making a money grab...but has hit a homerun with McDermott and Beane

...not to mention SIX Lombardis to show for it.....and Kevin Colbert has been their GM since 2000.......BTW, their 2009 SB club featured 19 of 22 starters acquired through the draft......

This is troll thread if there there was one. Who doesn’t know the Steelers have had just 2 coaches since Knoll’s Team of the 70’s?

OP just tryin’ to rouse rabble. I got my ? on you, son.

It was a rhetorical question, Paul Blart. Take it easy.

Over the last 50 seasons of the NFL,  from 1969 to 2019, the Pittsburgh Steelers have had only 3 Head Coaches

Chuck Noll (1969-1991)

Bill Cowher (1991-2006)

Mike Tomlin (2006-Present)

Without looking, how many HC's have the Buffalo Bills had, and name them.

Including interim head coaches?

Not sure I will get them all but I will try - will skip interim ones for simplicity's sake:

Rauch, Saban, Ringo, Knox, Stephenson, Bullough, Levy, Philips, Williams, Mularkey, Jauron, Gailey, Marrone, Rex, McDermott

15?  Yikes

Looks good from where I sit.

From that list, I can easily pick out my least favorite. Incompetent is one thing, loud mouth blow hard incompetent is more than I could handle.

I wonder what the total comes to including interims, and who else in the league can compete with our total? Browns have been on a roll lately, but going back to prior decades I doubt they can keep up.

John Rauch 19691970

Harvey Johnson.]1971

Lou Saban 19721976

Jim Ringo 19761977

Chuck Knox 19781982
Kay Stephenson 19831985

Hank Bullough 1985]1986

Marv Levy 19861997
Wade Phillips 19982000

Gregg Williams 20012003

Mike Mularkey 20042005

Dick Jauron20062009

Perry Fewell 2009

Chan Gailey 20102012

Doug Marrone 20132014

Rex Ryan 20152016

Anthony Lynn 2016

Sean McDermott 2017–present

18 coaches since Chuck Knoll started in Pittsburgh.   There were 4 before Rauch, although one of those was Lou Saban in his first tenure with the Bills.

My fandom started with Jim Ringo, I do not recall being aware of Lou Saban as coach even though I guess I was a fan already (at 6 years old ?

Only Levy and maybe Saban (if you include his earlier stint when they won 2 AFL Championships) are in the class of any of the three Steelers coaches for accomplishments. Let's hope McDermott gets there!

Knox was the best of the Bills coaches in that list, easily.

Marv never got a win he shouldn't have won anyway, lost a bunch he never had any excuse to lose

But y'all are overlooking the Steelers from 1933-1968!!! 16 different head coaches in their first 36 years in the league. Only 8 winning seasons. Only 1 playoff appearance. No playoff wins. No division titles. No championships. The franchise was so bad that they moved them to the AFC during the 1970 merger with the idea of giving them a fighting chance against "lesser competition." The lesson here? STOP saying "same old Bills." At one point in time, "same old Steelers" was probably a thing until it wasn't (1972).
