If we secure the #5 seed going into week 17, should we rest our starters?

Considering where Buffalo stands right now, if we win either of their 2 upcoming games, we not only secure a playoff spot, but the #5 seed.

No chance for any other seed, just the #5 seed.

Yes, it's possible.

Should we rest our starters? Will we?

I don’t think we rest starters. Maybe we pull them during the game but this offense needs all the Reps they can get going into the playoffs.

If they have a shot at the division (they wont as NE isn't losing to two **** teams in CIN/MIA) then obviously they will play everybody. If they are locked into the 4 vs 5 matchup then they probably will rest some players especially those who are injured and can use the time to get healthy.

Play them through the first half of the last game unless we are playing for the division. Then there no rest until its over.

Exactly. If we have the 5th seed and the Jets can't alter the course of our playoff fortunes or path, this game will likely be close to two hand touch anyway as the Jets will be looking at the scoreboard watching the clock tick down to vacation time and they won't want an injury keeping them off the golf course later that week.

I don't think your premise is correct.  If we lose to Pittsburgh and beat NE, it is unlikely we could have the 5th seed locked up-- impossible I think.  If we lose to Pittsburgh, we would both be 9-5 and Pitt would have the tiebreaker.  But your scenario seems right if we beat Pitt.

If we beat the Steelers AND lose to the Patriots (of all scenarios and based on history... do we really disagree that's what's very likely to happen?), there's an EXTREMELY good chance we will be locked in at #5.

If we are stuck as the 5, yes, rest the starters.

No need to get anyone hurt in what will be a glorified exhibition game.

Yep, if the Bills win this week and lose to the Pats next week there’s no need to risk the starters. Maybe give the, a series or two like they would in pre-season.

No.  This is a young team.  They need reps and to keep focus.  They wouldn't have to play the entire game, but they should at least play a half.

Whether we lock up #5 or not, don’t rest healthy starters.  This isn’t a team that has played together for years.  If injured ok, makes sense, but not if healthy.  Every time the o line plays together they will continue to improve synergy.  Everyone should know the more snaps Allen takes is better, and people like Singletary can benefit from reps.   Play them.  Walk in 12-4, not a limped in 10-6.

Offense wise you are correct.

The Defense can rest in the 2nd half when they have a 20 point lead

Speaking as a fellow poster here:  Can we please just focus on getting to the playoffs first?

Beat Pittsburgh.  It's gonna be really tough.

Then worry about playoffs, once we're in.

Absolutely agree 100%. Lets win this week. Then we can talk about winning next week. THEN we can talk about keeping the momentum moving along.

Fixed. Added the bold. Sorry if any Apostrophe was missed. You didn't use punctuation so I too left it out.

Nope they rest too much as it is, i believe this why why we come out flat after time off like preseason and the bye and even after thanksgiving, which is 10 days off. Players dont do any kind of real practice anymore and it's no surprise why tackling league wide is poor and probably why Josh and WRs cant hit the deep ball, running plays in shorts at 50% effort doesn't come close to replicating in game experience with full pads, helmet and a DB in your face. #TooSoft.

You believe wrong.  We came out of preseason with several wins, won after our bye, and our game after Thanksgiving was against the RAVENS who we played tough.

You sound like you have an agenda.
