zow2 Posted November 27, 2019 Share Posted November 27, 2019 Philly was one loss to the Bills away from their season falling to pieces and more in-fighting, Cleveland was one loss to the Bills away from having their season basically end and their coach/Baker getting roasted. Both teams came together and beat Buffalo. Can McDermott coach these guys up to play with the same type of intensity we will see out of Dallas? The Dallas coaches and team are getting openly criticized by their owner and the fans/media are creating such a pressure environment for this game. Against Philly, we had a head-scratching game plan to come out pass heavy and win the game on Allen's arm in crappy weather. It didn't work. The following week and last week in similar situations, we pounded the rock and it worked. Against the Browns, we came out with a similar head-scratching "let's put Singletary in the Barn and hang it on Allen's arm" formula and again, it didn't work. After that, the Bills offense seems to have had a "come to Jesus" meeting where we regrouped and simplified. Now we've put 2 games of that on tape. It really is going to come down to execution. We're a young team and we make mistakes at bad moments sometimes. If we lock in and execute, we can do this. Pressure is a two edged sword. It doesn't always amp you up, sometimes it cuts you. The Bills do seem kind of laid-back and smiley in their pressers, but hopefully the coaches chew their asses before the game and get them fired up. If you read some Cowboys commentary from their fans, a lot of them watched our one (somewhat) recent game that was shown to more than just the city of Buffalo and whatever city we’re playing.. Philadelphia. Having that game be their basis, along with the narrative that we haven’t beaten anybody good makes it easy to see why they scoff at the notion our offense can do much of anything and our defense, that decided to let Philly run and screen us to death, is anything close to elite. (Oh they have also beaten the Ravens and in a blowout type fashion! ) Philly is a good team when healthy, the last few weeks they been playing with 2nd and 3rd stringers a lot. Also I’m not a huge fan of their HC.. but he isn’t terrible. Dallas, has more talent than both those teams on D and have some amazing talent on O.. (with one of the. Eat O lines in football) With their talent level they should be 10-1 or at worse 8-3.. why are they 6-5.. I dare say their HC! Going for a FG when you need a TD to win? Knowing your O struggled all day to move the ball.. ya he is toast after this year. so all 3 teams have amazing talent and are more than capable of winning purely on that. Dallas by every right should beat down the Bills based on talent alone! Will they? NOPE.. why? Because Garrett will do something stupid like throw the ball when Elliot is getting huge gains on the ground or run the ball when Dak is carving up the secondary.. the Bills huge advantage is better HC, and hopefully a better game plan. For as easy as the Bills schedule has been they have played a few pretty good teams in absolute, must-win, games. IMO the lack of use of Singletary and the running game overall in those 2 losses made a difference (think he was also injured for one of them). The play calling has seemingly gotten better and also the execution has been better. It's as if this offense needed some time to click with all the new players. In any event, as long as that continues with the execution and better play calling, these losses to the "desperate" teams should come to a halt. If we were a national game team, going by recent play, lots of people would know the names of Jordan Phillips, Ed Oliver, Shaq Lawson, Tremaine Edmunds, Matt Milano, Tre White, Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer. Many would also know how well Josh Allen has been playing, plus the strong rookie season for Devin Singletary, as well as the vet WR’s: John Brown and Cole Beasley. We also have a strong OL, which doesn’t get much recognition, but is a key to our improved offense, allowing Daboll/Allen to execute. I’m not saying we’re one of the most talented teams in the league. On Offense, a lot still rides on Allen and Daboll, but we’re not far away. I get your point though... Healthy Cleveland and healthy Philly have the ability to just out-talent other teams, but have had coaching or injuries hold them back.
