One forced turnover by Bills D in five weeks

Recommended Posts

It's been the problem all year. The Bills can't even get a lucky tipped ball pick. No pass rush all season long.  I know folks on hear are focusing their ire on Daboll, Allen, and this week Hauschka.  It's short sighted. The problem is Frazier and the d-line. Frazier doesn't blitz enough and the d-line despite what PFF says is not winning many one on one matchups.

It's really hard to consistently drive 75 + yards for scores. In this league you need short fields and occasionally some points by the defense.

3 and outs are turnovers. Turnovers on downs are turnovers.  A safety IS a turnover WITH points.

The defense, YET AGAIN, held a team under 20 and our offense didn't get the job done. You keep the other team under 20 and you HAVE to win. Raise the standard.

This is part of the problem. Our defense is good but we are t creating turnovers like we have in the past to help the offense.
when we do get them it seems to be at the other end of the field.

when we get home we aren’t getting the fumbles off the sacks.

It is a concern but not the sole reason we aren’t winning , we are 6-3. When there is no pressure on the QB there are no opportunities to cause hurried mistakes.

It is the reason why teams linger longer than we’d like and why we can’t put them away.
It is the reason why we aren’t scoring as many points. We don’t see many short fields situations.

It is the reason why teams don’t change they’re approach on offense against us. Why would they?

It’s funny that you mention Frazier not blitzing a lot when a blitz played a big part in costing  the team a win.

Scoring in the red zone is tough because you

have a lot of defenders compressed into a small space. Frazier cleared out that space for the offense by blitzing on that game winning TD.

Just a horrible call in that part of the field. The D has held tough al day In the red zone and Frazier decides to put Wallace on an island.

Sigh.

Sigh.

It seemed a lot of their other better pass plays came against the blitz also. The blitz is great if it gets to the qb quick but it’s seems like when the bills do it, it seldom Gets through untouched

The problem is they play conversative style defense,  not many blitzes and lack of turnovers are your end result.  Everything is about keeping players in front on them and making the tackle.  The final drive was perfect example of playing conservative,  you better off rushing 5-6 and forcing Baker into making a quick decision.  If you get burned you're still are leaving yourself time to come back,  Sean is an average HC and until he goes this mentality of playing not lose will remain

More Blitzes might be nice.

Blitzes are a feast or famine play.  A gamble.

Poyer blitzed on the long run by Chubb on their game winning drive and got picked up with ease.

We blitzed on the TD pass on their game winning drive.  I would have been nice to give Levi Wallace some safety help deep in the end zone on that play.

Blitzes are a gamble and today they did not work.

The final drive for the Browns they we're better off blitzing and if they beat you your still leaving yourself time.  Sean is way too conservative

The defense did their part today.  Yes, they could have won the game with a stop on the final drive, sure.  Holding a team to 19 on the road is a good day, especially with the inept offense we have that cannot sustain drives or help turn the field.

When is this offense going to have a 100 yard rusher or throw for 300 yard?  Anything to give the defense some help?

We had enough time to score and we had one time out.

How about the offense learn to run two plays back to back.

How about the offense not waste time in the huddle, maybe try a no huddle for a change?

How about the offensive players (Brown and Singletary) get out of bounds, which they each failed to do on the last drive.

The blitzes we tried did not work on Cleveland's last drive.  Watch the replays.
