The Bengals, the Falcons, the dolphins, the Jets, the Broncos and the Redskins, all in apparent freefall. Throw in the giants, the browns and the Buccaneers as trending in that direction. I think this is atypical, also.

What I mean is the Bengals could have added picks for him and saved cap they will need to help a real rebuild. Instead they will be dumb enough to pay him with no real chance of winning jack or let him walk for free. when they cut him, McBeanes will to move to try and sign him. that's how our guys roll. thankfully. and then he'll go to the Pats or some big market team. Trust the Process. they know what they are doing
H2o 4,019 Posted October 31 If he can stay healthy, and that's a big IF, then there is no reason to think AJ can't be a productive WR in this league for another 3 or 4 years. Now with that being said, I wouldn't throw a ton of $$$ at the guy. He's easily worth 2 years and $20,000,000 though if Sammy can get 3 years and $48,000,000 on the open market. Would he take that? Who knows? I do think that he and Cincy will part ways at the end of the season though.

PetermansRedemption 1,217 Posted October 31 Well, is this really an ultimatum? He’s going to be a free agent without a long term deal. Thus, he would be free to leave. I just don’t really understand his threat here.

Whether they sign him, franchise him or let him walk, what he wants doesn't really matter. Their primary want seems to be to not play in Cincinnati anymore so I can see why management would ignore that. Along with everything else. 1 hour ago, atlbillsfan1975 said: Exactly, which makes the fact the Bengals held onto him even more confusing. Green through Tuesday’s trade deadline. Green has missed the first eight games of the season with an ankle injury, but the number of teams interested in him was not limited. That included both the New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers. An impending free agent, it’s unclear if Green has a future in Cincinnati. The team is in the initial stages of a rebuild and just benched longtime batterymate Andy Dalton. In talking about the situation as he nears a return to the field, Green provided the Bengals’ brass with an ultimatum: sign the receiver to a long-term deal or let him walk in free agency." billsfan_34 1,076 Posted October 31 Yo A.J. - you are 31 and haven’t played so much the past 2 years. Your leverage isn’t too good right now.
Buddo 249 Posted October 31 Green is simply stating what is best for him. End of. Players generally don't like being tagged when they are about to hit FA. Moreso when you get to Green's age, when he just going to get one more good deal for his services. Franchise Tag for Wrs this year was $16million plus, iirc. I don't know what Green is currently making, but I'm not sure he would expect any more than that. I would expect that he simply wants a new deal for about the next three years, from someone - note, he hasn't said he doesn't want to play for the Bungles - he just wants them tosort out what they are doing. Much of the rest of this, is the media stirring the pot, where simple propositions are trying to be portrayed as conflict.
