yeah....

how many pro-ready high schoolers are there?  ones that seriously can step in and make a difference without 2-3 years of learning the pro game?

the Euro kids are a different matter, they are honed on the modern game a lot better than their US counterparts

tossing away a chance at an education over a pipe dream of playing in the NBA is not something that the NCAA should be encouraging

They should make the draft like the MLB has it.  You could get drafted out of high school & follow your MLB dreams but if you go into college you are not eligible to reenter the draft until after your junior year.  This way if a kid doesn't like where he is drafted out of high school he could hone his skill in college.

I think it is tough to win with one & doners in the tournament unless the talent is superb.  There is such an advantage in a tournament setting of having upperclassmen leadership especially in the backcourt.  I think K & Cal are starting to realize this.  They will still go after the one year players but it takes supreme talent to win it all with that kind of setup.  Duke couldn't do it last year & that was a once in lifetime freshman class.

Canes tried to run Illinois off the court early, almost blew a 27 point lead and squeaked out the win

small PG Lykes put on a display with 29 in the win

7 foot frosh Kofi Cockburn anchored the Illini comeback

  • 2 weeks later...

Sparty took an early 8-0 lead at Northwestern and couldn't shake off the home team, won easily but a good game.

Winston led the charge with 20+ and NW frosh Boo Buie went on a heat check for more points than that in the loss, his brother who plays at Penn St was on hand and enjoying it all.

Nicknames of Dirt and Baba come to mind.
