This year, his second, his offense is averaging 1 passing TD, 1 rushing TD and 1 FG per game.  It's a bento box offense.  What other team is looking for that?

And that's why, if all things stay the same, I don't think he will get interest. The offense would have to take a big step forward.

But the fact he is mentioned shows the team as a whole is on the right track.

Members of the media mention him.  And him being mentioned doesn't create more on track..

The coaching talent pool of HC candidates isn't exactly overflowing.

May DeFilippo finally gets a gig after being a hot name for a couple of years? I am less keen on him than most but producing a decent offense with Gardner Minshew will help.

His successor as OC in Minnesota, Kevin Stefanski, seems like a guy who will be on lists and the DC in San Fran is almost certain to get a job.

Greg Roman could get looks after being totally out of the picture for a few years since leaving the 49ers and in terms of retreads the top 2 names on my list are Mike Pettine and Dennis Allen. Both were hot young DCs who took jobs with dysfunctional teams and flamed out but have rebuilt their reputations nicely.

Then Mike McCarthy is a Superbowl winning Head Coach out of work who probably finds a way back in and I think we will get at least one college guy hired. Matt Rhule seems the hot name and he rebuilt Temple and now Baylor so if there is a team ready to properly start over who wants a turn around guy then he will be on the list. Washington is possible and Atlanta is too but the Giants is the intriguing possibility there I think. And then there is Harbaugh. The more years he stays at Michigan winning 9 or 10 games but losing his bowl game and not getting close to the CFB playoffs the more he reduces his chance of a return to the pro ranks. Maybe he takes the view it is now or never?

I truly believe that Josh's improvement this season is due largely to him.

I truly believe it's Josh Allen that is making Brian Deboll look half way decent as an OC.

Look at last season as Daboll was so intent on making his offense work he called for more deep passing plays more often then any other NFL team. And, he did that with Peterman and Barkley too. Calling for deep passing plays when you are fielding the very worst offensive line when those deep passes take 3-5 step drops which requires more then 2-3 seconds in the pocket...which no Bills QB had consistently. Kinda stupid IMO. When Josh proved his potential as a runner escaping for his life behind that bad line, then Daboll put in QB run plays.

This season the offense is doing better but this OC has Allen starting the game throwing which is exactly what you shouldn't be doing with a young, inexperienced QB still learning his craft.

Frank Gore is averaging 4.5 yards per carry, Yeldon is also averaging 4.5 yards per carry, Singletary is averaging 9.0 yards per carry. Gore also leads the Bills rush game in broken tackles.  Last game the Bills started the first series with Gore gaining 8 yards and on 2nd down and 2, the next two plays are passes, why?

Josh has started almost every game coming out stumbling with passes first against all sorts of different defensive looks. Thus making this inexperienced QB the focal point of the offense. Why not come out running and when the defense moves to stop the run it opens up the lanes behind them.

That first drive in the second half of the Miami game the Bills came out running with 3 straight run plays for 22 yards and finished up a 98 yard drive with 6 runs, 6 passes for a TD and a 2 point conversion. They even overcame a -10 yard holding penalty on that drive. Allen went 6 for 6 on that drive.

Bento box...great reference, but not many will understand.   I myself love a good bento box for lunch, not dinner.

Robert Saleh, 2 Pats assistants among young coaches to watch

By Tom Pelissero

NFL.com reporter

Who is this year's Sean McVay -- the young, up-and-coming coach who may get an NFL head job sooner than later?

This is the third year I've asked the question, and six names from the previous lists have been hired, including Matt LaFleur, Brian Flores and Zac Taylor in the most recent cycle. As I note every year, McVay -- a 30-year-old with three years of experience as a coordinator when the Rams hired him in January 2017 -- is a rare guy, and pretty much nobody has comparable experience at such a young age. Winless starts amidst intentional (Dolphins) and not-so-intentional (Bengals) rebuilds have some plugged-in people predicting a shift away from the wunderkind hiring trend. But McVay is coming off a Super Bowl appearance, and LaFleur's age certainly isn't stopping him from early success in Green Bay, so you can bet some NFL teams will once again look past the length of resume (or lack thereof) if they feel they have a shot to land the next superstar head coach.

The criteria here remains the same as past years: the age cutoff is in the early 40s, and the person can't have been a full-time NFL head coach before. Here's a short list of names to remember, based on dozens of recent conversations with NFL executives, coaches, players and others close to the search process:

New faces for this year's list

49ers DC Robert Saleh

Colts OC Nick Sirianni

Vikings OC Kevin Stefanski

Baylor coach Matt Rhule and Iowa State coach Matt Campbell

Bills OC Brian Daboll: If the Bills stay hot, it wouldn't be a surprise to see interest in Daboll, 44, who has a big fan in young QB Josh Allen. He's a likeable guy with offensive chops and an impressive pedigree that includes five Super Bowl wins over two stints as a Patriots assistant and a national title on Nick Saban's staff at Alabama.

Patriots ST/WR coach Joe Judge and ILB coach Jerod Mayo

...

Interesting to see Daboll mentioned, once again, as a head coaching candidate. It would be strange considering the Bills have not had that good of an offense this year and is winning mainly on defensive dominance and occasional Josh Allen heroics. I think if Daboll really will be considered for head coaching jobs, he'd have to kick this offense into a much higher gear going forward.

Why is Greg Roman not on this list with what his high powered offense accomplished this year?

Excellent point.

He is successful it seems wherever he goes.

Funny ...  just the other day I saw a tweet that included McDermott as the Panthers candidate ...

McDermott isn't going anywhere any time soon IMO

Calling Daboll "hot" on any issue ???

Well, have your chin held high like he's your next John Maddenesque love doll engaging in that debate.

Popular be the word I'd prefer to use.

I think Daboll is hawt!

Any consideration is probably for the schemes and belief offense is doing better than some expected not that expectations were high.

Any consideration is directly related to Allen's steady improvement. Many thought Allen shouldn't even see the field for 2 years yet here he is being talked about as one of the young, up and coming QBs and is leading his team to the playoffs. That type of mentoring of a young, raw, QB will get team's attention. It doesn't mean he lands the job, but it will get him some interviews.

Guarantee he is on someone’s list. He is seemlingly the only guy on the planet that can take a super Mobile QB with suspect ‘something’ and build a good to championship caliber offense around him.

Did it with Kaep, Tyrod and now Lamar.

I could have missed something, but In the several reviews I have seen of Baltimore’s offense, looks like  every play has one read for the QB based on the play and what a player on defense does. I’m not saying Lamar can’t, just seems like they don’t ask him to.

There is some reason he was picked after all the others. I surely don’t know what it is outside of the fading negative connotation of mobile QBs that has been deconstructed by Josh, Lamar, Russsell, Deseaun, and others.
