Here is a good topic.

What do you prefer a offense that literally is unstoppable but has a defense that is literally can't stop a pee wee football team. Or a defense that resembles the 85 bears steel curtain of the 70's but has an offense that everytime they take the field getting 10 yards and a first down is an achievement.

You need to have balance in all three phases.  For example, if all you have is a good offense and your defense and SpT suck, other teams will exploit your vulnerabilities.  You won't be able to outscore everyone all the time.

Balance and continuity are my keys to building a long term winner.  Viva la process!

You become 1-dimensional and easy to game plan for. Your opponents don't have to beat you at that phase just bring you down enough that your failure in the other phases becomes insurmountable.

I think I'll start all my threads this way. That way nobody can debate whether my threads are good or not:

Terrible topic.

id prefer to have a great offense because then every game would be 55-54.  I’d rather watch that game over a game that is 3-0

So before I entertain your thread I have to point out the bolded.  How high are you?  The 85 Bears played in you know 85.  The Steel Curtain was the Steelers and the 70s.

My answer would be the defense.  A defense can score points.  A defense can get turnovers that create short fields leading to easy scores.  Seriously the Patriots this year are playing this way.  Against the Bills, The patriots got 3 points from a short field after a turnover and 7 points from their ST.  That is 10 of their 16 points.  Even against the Giants where they scored 35, they had a special teams td, a defensive score, and a 20 yard td drive after an int.  Their offense put together 2 td drives all game against a not so vaunted defense.  End result though was 35-14.

Finally a good topic.  The answer is neither.  I’d prefer a team that sucks on offense and defense and has a great punter.  Wait, we had that for the past 2 decades...😒

You read it on the internet, so it has to be true, right?

Sadly, I'm still bound by my commitment to call people with less than 250 posts "idiots," even though I just find out today that the mods cheated me on that agreement gruesomely.

So all I can say about this thread right now is that I'm just excited to be a part of it...

I believe there may be a breaking in period before he can be “initiated”. Maybe 250 posts?

One is as bad as the other and won't get you where you want to go. If the question was a great offense with a terrible defense vs. a great defense with a mediocre offense, then maybe it is a discussion and I'd take the great defense and mediocre offense. But in the original post, who cares? Both teams will fail. If you can't score, you can't win. And conversely, you can't make a living playing and winning shootouts every week. You're one turnover from losing every game.
