The Rise of #70

His arms are long enough... I think his shortcomings are a technique issue... it seems to me when he gets beat it's when he doesn't get enough depth and I don't think he has those instincts yet... I think when he comes back and has a chance to catch his breath he shows much better at RT. Why not? That's if he's not playing RG due to injury.

I don't think it's guaranteed he overcomes this (imo) issue but imo I don't think it's a physical shortcoming. I think his feet are good enough... he has enough strength/athleticism and has 34" armlength which is plenty. Just a thought I've had lately wanted to post it.

If you don’t watch the games, you could  buy a program. Also, in recent weeks this new thing called the internet has popped up. VERY handy! But it would be nice if people spelled it out. People who just use initials think I’m a mind reader, and that ticks me off. Just SAY IT!

Just now, DC Tom said:

Seriously, mods...how are people with less than 250 posts starting threads?  If you're going to go back on your promise to limit their thread-starting abilities, I'm going back on my promise to not call them idiots.

I think it might be people who already have accounts being grandfathered in.

So with post 251, someone becomes less of an idiot?

I’m inclined to think idiocy is something one is stuck with, like being red-headed, left-handed, or being named Tom. ?

Cody Ford.

For a second round pick, he shouldn't have this many technical issues.  He was probably drafted too high, and hopefully not an all out miss.  Maybe Ford puts it all together soon enough..best case scenario.

Seriously?  Lol saying number 70 is a style of saying Cody Ford. It's a quick way of coding who we all know (bc we're Bills fans) Cody Ford is.

The ones who knock the title... love you... but you need to chill.

A different perspective on Cody Ford:

https://www.thescore.com/nfl/news/1837179

Quote

Each of the Bills' top draft picks are contributing - including Ed Oliver, Devin Singletary, and Dawson Knox - but it's Cody Ford who's made the biggest impact. The second-round pick is starting at right tackle, and though he's taken three penalties and allowed four sacks, he's also run blocking for the league's No. 7-ranked rushing attack.

At least some outsider think Cody Ford is OK. Take that, Bembridge Scholars!

That being said, as a rookie Olineman, there will be some technique issues for sure. There were also some lateral quickness issues in pass protection. That is why is good at run blocking / playing inside since lateral quickness is less important for a guard. But with my rose tinted glasses, I think he can be OK and I can live with him allowing a sack a game so long as Allen does not get hurt and we win.

What is "Rise" coding for?

He is a 2nd round talent, at guard.  Despite the Bills forcing the issue the kid isnt long or twitchy enough to play tackle.  Put him in at guard and he is a mauler.

I'm not sure why, but it still kinda baffles me that some people expect these rookies to come out of the gate as if they're All-Pro already.

The college game isn't doing much to prepare OL for the pros right now. Guys barely line up with their hand in the dirt and there isn't a whole lot of scheming. Takes time to get used to the speed of the NFL game and it takes time to develop skills these guys didn't really work on in college. I think Ford will be alright. At worst he's a capable RT, at best he could be a Pro Bowl guard. He's five games into his NFL career, let's pump the brakes a little bit before we go calling him a bust or saying he was drafted too high.

Exactly. There are only a handful of power 5 programs running a prostyle offense teaching technique that translates to the NFL.
