The Bills defense played winning football on Sunday. Tom Brady was held to a completion rate of 50% or worse for just the 21st time in 271 career starts, and the first time since 2017. The Patriots offense earned just 11 first downs after never earning fewer than 21 in the previous three weeks; they converted on just 5-of-18 (27.8%) third downs after converting 47.5% of the time in the first three games. New England also finished with by far their worst single-game offensive DVOA rating (-43.4%) of the year, having never dipped below 11.8% previously (subscription required). New England scored one offensive touchdown, with their other touchdown being a special teams score.

(EDIT:  take a look at the violence with which Edmunds attacks the hole and the running back blocker in the second clip, and look what Milano does to throw the receiver off the route in the next clip.)

Other teams will want to copy what the Bills did but as Deion said best on one of the shows he is on:

"Don't even bother trying to copy what the Bills did because you don't have the talent on your defense to do it. It's not going to work."

Wow. Good endorsement from Deion. Thanks for sharing this.

Thanks for the synopsis.

This regime knows how to identify, draft and develop defense. It's a shame about Horrible Harry, it looks like he was a breakout candidate this year. I hope he comes back stronger than ever next year.

What's exciting is that this defense should be even better next year... take that, NFL! We will have a (hopefully) healthy H Phillips, E Oliver Year Two and Edmunds becoming elite. No guarantees but the future seems bright(er).
