A Few Thoughts about the Giants game, in no particular order

A large part of me gets very anxious when I see Josh trying to take on blitzers and tacklers. I really don't want him to get hurt.

But there is another part of me that just loves watching him smack these guys in the face with a stiff arm or makes them look stupid with a juke or a hurdle. I love the way he plays the game.

This is where I am.  None of this makes sense.  He was a good receiver in college and somehow forgot how to catch when he entered the NFL.

I will say that I've noticed him catching with his hands better this season.

But the drops are too much.  I would be fine if the Bills chose to move on.

Maybe the Pats have made an arrangement with Zay and have told him to drop everything that comes his way to secure his release?

A few of my favorite things about this game:

- That the team rebounded very quickly from an ugly 1st drive on both sides of the ball

- That Allen made a "you'll rarely see this" throw to Knox on the first TD drive

- Saquon Barkely--best RB in the NFL

- That after the called QB draw that gained 12 easy yards was called back on a questionable penalty, Allen and The Bease connected for the team's biggest gain of the day on the next snap

- That in the celebration following the McKenzie (who I have decided to nickname "Slick" for no apparent reason) TD, Allen ran into the end zone and--while the rest of the team was congratulating Devin for his first NFL TD (and rightfully so)--he chose to run straight to Knox and go nuts about his block on Peppers that created the escort for Slick

- That the DBs took the missed tackles last week personally, and showed a clear improvement

- That when the game got close in the 4th quarter, 4th-Quarter-Josh-Allen showed up again...this is becoming a thing that Bills' fans should pay attention to and get excited about. And that play that ended with the throw to John Brown on the final TD drive...just unbelievable.

Amid 3 drops. I’ve lost all faith in him and I was supportive of him through his 1st year & a half.

I just wish other teams read @Alphadawg7‘s epic thread and made an offer. I’d take a 5th right now, maybe a 6th.

He’s a 2nd Rounder we missed on. If the ball isn’t perfectly placed in his chest, it ain’t getting caught. Even then, he’s shaky.

Did you actually see the catch yesterday? It was full extension, up and away from his body on a lazer across the middle that he caught with his hands.

Nice job OP.  Thanks for the effort you put into this.

One unnecessary addition:  I sort of agree with your sympathy for the Giants.  You see such a contrast here in North Jersey to the clown show that the Jets always are; the Giants usually have a certain touch of class and even dignity.  But my sense is that they made a mistake with Gettleman who in turn made a mistake with Shurmur, so nothing will get fixed too soon.  Then again, the front offices in Dallas and Washington aren't much better so maybe they match up OK with any competition that isn't the Eagles.

I also think that this Bills team collectively has its head in the game more than a lot of teams of recent years ever did.  I give credit to McDermott for that.

I agree with you on pretty much everything except Gore, I think we left a ton of rushing yards on the table. When Gore signed here I didn't expect him to be our starter but a goal line, short yardage, grind out the clock for a win type back. I think he looked really slow out there on Sunday, he definitely looks like a 36 year old RB that needs to be in a rotation.

RT is looking to still be an issue and I'm just not a Zay fan. Allen is showing good progress,I'm interested to see how he handles playing a good team. The conservative coaching BS has to go away, and I'm afraid that is part of McD's DNA - that is very concerning. Never should have kneeled at the end of the half and they should not have gone in a shell in the 3rd; it felt like they were trying to run the clock out in Q3 and that is a terrible idea, unless you are up like 40-0...

I refuse to read the other 4 pages of comments before i say this. DAMN RIGHT!! I said it at half time to anyone who would listen. The Bills have a horrible tendency to play looser on defense and boring offense that runs the clock out the second they get any kind of two score lead. It's frustrating as hell. Look at Belichick. 43-0 and he sends a 0-blitz at the dolphins (brings the house). GO FOR THE THROAT! I don't care if you are up 6 scores. Maybe take some starters out but keep going for that throat with the play calling. Play 4 quarters and make them PAY. Finish every game the way Feliciano and Spain keep on finishing their guys.

A win is a win but man oh man you CANNOT do that to a good team. You attack and you don't stop attacking.

Stat curse:  How many of you knew the moment they threw up the graphic about Bills QB's not throwing for 300 yards that his momentum would slow down and not break it today either?

I thought the same thing.

Kinda like don't mention a no hitter when the pitcher has the chance at one.

Yeah I agree. Zay just isn't going to get better is my guess.  I could see him traded in a couple weeks for a LB or DB.

For me, every single receiver not named Beasley or Brown has the opportunity to step up.  They are going to be single covered and given chances to shine.

If Zay or Foster want to become anything, now’s their chance

Side Note - Spain in open field blocking is simply unfair.  I can't remember the exact play, but he got out in space and you could see how massive he is.  He then just completely enveloped a dude.  Poor kid never stood a chance.  I'm loving Spain more and more each game.

The pain from Spain's felt mainly on the plain.

Two specific plays that I remember. On Singletary's TD he made a huge block downfield. Then on a trap he came around and absolutely destroyed someone on the second level.

There is another thread on here that has some good points - mostly about penalties and lack of execution that caused the cruddy 3rd qtr and even the QB run in the last minute of the 2nd. Those are all valid and correct points, but I would have to go back and really watch, but it felt while watching it live, the D played a lot loser and we were more than willing to pound the rock with Gore and we didn't put ourselves in a good down/distance. I get that there are half time adjustments by both teams, but the play calling on both sides of the ball was uninspiring and not attacking in that entire quarter. Some may have to do with playing it close to the vest with a young team with an OL who has only played 2 games together, with a rotation at the RT spot and a developing QB, but they should work on killer mentality as well. Get a score to end the half and get the ball back in the 3rd and score again. That is not only the Cheatriot*** way, but smart football to stomp the other team out. It's hard to win in the NFL and you should go for the jugular.

I did not see three drops. I saw one attempt at a circus catch in the end zone. I saw Allen miss him badly when he was wide open on a slant.

I'm impressed that so many of you guys can ride the Zay Jones hobby horse at the same time. You have to jockey for position to stay on.

I think there were 3 different drives maybe that started with a false start penalty?  Bills get the ball back, 1st and 10 and before any drive begins it 1st and 15.

What I love the most about Allen is that he doesn’t give a *****.

Previously, if we started even 1st and 11, I thought the drive was over.

It’s 1st and 25 and I don’t even blink really.  Allen has completely changed that for me

I was looking forward to today's game as my 6 year old daughter kept reminding me how she wanted me to explain the game to her.  We went out and made football snacks, had our gear on, and were all set.  The moment the Bills kicked the ball off, she's laying on my legs, tablet out, Netflix on.  Oh well...

You're doing the right thing. Force her to watch it will make it work. My friend brings his kids to UH baseball games with me. By the end of the first inning they're over on the hill playing with the other kids. But they'll have fond memories at the ballpark and want to keep going back. Eventually, the interest in the actual game on the field will slowly progress.

I remember my first Bisons game. Couldn't tell you who they played, the score, or even if we won. But I remember getting a hot dog in a helmet, Buster Bison, and The Earl of Bud dancing like Pee-Wee Herman on the dugout. Also enjoyed singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" with my dad.

And we moved UP in that draft to select him, so I think high expectations are warranted

She knows she’s a Bills fan.  Her mother doesn’t care about sports.  She likes that I like it and enjoys the time together.   I’m good with that and know it will grow.

I’m just happy to have her with me and look forward to be old enough to take her to a playoff game
