I feel bad for Wade.  I'm glad we've got him, but this year long exemption smacks of the reserve clause in baseball.  I'm guessing the NFL will have to restructure this program somehow so these guys can play in the first year.  Surprised the NFLPA is allowing it without a legal challenge.

They CAN play in year 1; they just have to make a 53 man roster.

I think the rule makes sense. If these guys want the best shot at making it in the NFL, they're going to need time to transition. A full year on the PS to learn the game, in the same environment, without having to worry about change of scenery, will be huge for his development. Nothing else could increase his chances of making an NFL roster next year more IMO.

...isn't that only if Bills designate him as #11 for the exemption?...if he remains in the "normal 10", I think he is eligible for the active 53...........

He’s set to earn over $125000 USD or close to £100000 in British coinage.

Dont feel sorry.

Wasn't it posted upthread that he was designated with the 11th roster position?

...if so, I apologize for missing it bud........YOU ARE CORRECT (from Bills site)...

International player allocation, Christian Wade, was added as the exempt 11th practice squad player, meaning he cannot be elevated to Buffalo’s active roster. He’ll be a practice squad player only for the 2019 season.

I like his natural abilities.  After the last game he does need to learn alot of nuance.  Simple things as how to run behind your pads, when and how to get down.  The overall aspects of game his game he now gets to hone.  Hopefully, t

generate a role going into next season.  Learning to field punts and kicks could be an area to concentrate.

Tyron Johnson - Undrafted rookie wide receiver out of Oklahoma State

6-1, 195

Overview

Deep ball specialist with ability to take the top off defenses. Johnson's game is geared to get down the field and make explosive catches, but the rest of his skill-set is still very raw. While he can force safeties away from the line of scrimmage, he's not an instinctive route-runner and gives too many clues away to cornerbacks who will swarm his breaks as a pro. He has great deep speed to get into a camp, but shaky hands and modest production may foreshadow and uphill climb.

Strengths
  • Put together strong pro day workout according to scouts
  • Took big step up in production in 2018
  • Has exceptional deep speed
  • Consistent separation on his go routes
  • Speed to eat cushion and race over top of safeties on posts
  • Early to locate and adjust to deep throws
  • Shows ability to make athletic catches down the field
  • Can force teams to shade safeties in his direction
Weaknesses
  • Ran very limited route tree
  • Needs more consistent early route drive
  • Below-average route instincts to set up defenders
  • Lazy getting into breaks
  • Waits for throws to get to him rather than driving back
  • Doesn't keep corners stacked on hip to protect catch
  • Contested catches are below average
  • Hands lack strength and drops are a big concern

Yeah, but I'm a realest.  Sills and Grier were products of the Air Raid offense which gave them inflated stats.  Sills can make big plays, but is not a polished route runner.  He needs to add more than big play ability to make a roster.  However, he's always been a guy that's beaten the odds and is able to achieve his goals.  I think he'll find his way onto an NFL roster by next season.

We finally got a glimpse of his big play ability, wish he were given opportunities with Josh instead of Tyree. I believe he'll find his way onto a roster, I just hope it is ours.

Tyron Johnson is a perfect PS signee.  He's not the tallest receiver, but he's tall enough with speed to burn.  Apparently has decent hands.  The only important box he doesn't check is development in terms of route tree.  That can and will be coached while he's on the PS.  Physically, he's a lot like Robert Foster.  That's definitely not a bad thing.

Whoa.  Johnson runs a 4.34 40, just 0.03 off the fastest time recorded.at the combine (which he wasn't invited to).   Seems like he's not just a fast track guy playing football either.   Interesting...

"At the 2019 NFL Combine, the fastest 40-yard dash time clocked in at 4.31 seconds ran by Parris Cambell  — now a member of the Indianapolis Colts. Johnson runs a 4.34, putting his 40-yard dash time as the fifth-fastest time in this year’s class of rookies. Additionally, Scott Wright of ‘The Oklahoman’ reported that Johnson did not drop a single catchable pass at his pro day."
