Rookie K Chase McLaughin

Rex is gone so we won’t be keeping 2 kickers. He’s pretty decent. Jets need to find a kicker before our game. They had a pro bowl kicker and decided to let him walk (?) despite having gobs of cap space and are now in a bad place. Have a feeling they claim McLaughlin off waivers when he’s cut. They are 3rd in waiver order.

Too bad Beane couldn't find a way to trade him for something! Jets wouldn't make a trade knowing they're so high in the waiver order, but is there another team that needs one to keep him from going there?

Falcons might need a kicker.  They're trying out Matt Bryant

I hope not, then he would know our whole playbook ahead of the 1st game!

Agreed, the kid is fantastic! Pretty sure he made every kick he attempted and boomed KOs through the end zone. He’ll be picked up, I’m sure. Hope we made the right choice....

Yeah, he had touchbacks on all 7 of his KO's but he only attempted 2 FGs (although his long was 54 yards).  Hopefully the Bills don't regret re-signing SH and letting him walk.

Maybe we trade him to Minnesota since he looked better than their kicker that traded for earlier in the week? lol

A team that expects to make the playoffs will go with a proven vet over a kid that may or may not be good.

I dare say we should get used to these type of decisions.

Agreed.  I hate to see it.  Not much one can do about it though.

Beane could see if he could find a trading partner.  Chase McLaughlin for a 2021 7th round pick.  That's chump change, but if it can keep a decent kicker out of Jetsland, it's worth it.

What are the chances he pulled a hammie on that last kickoff and goes straight to IR until 2020?

And a slightly more serious question:  suppose something like this happens and then a team lets the guy go with an injury settlement.  What are the rules on re-signing someone like that?  Are you banned for the rest of the year?
