row_33
David Foster Wallace, my favourite novelist of the last 50 years (RIP), wrote some great things on tennis, he was a good player in his youth. the NYT still has it up for free... https://www.nytimes.com/2006/08/20/sports/playmagazine/20federer.html

I have more in my head though Capriotti, the Williams Sisters, and Martina Hingis how ever long ago that was. I honestly never heard of Coco. This was my favorite match ever: I loved Pete! Put a dime at the T or out wide, and he could hit it with his serve! I do think yacking on the court is a violation, however.
Augie
Djokovic is the tennis version of the Patriots in my mind. Not saying he’s cheating (and not saying he’s not), but the guy playing him is my friend!
Augie
I may not like him, but I will NEVER deny the Jokers greatness. Same with Serena, actually.
Augie
Medvedev with a CRAZY get on that drop shot! These guys are ridiculously fit! To go balls to the wall, often for 4-5 hours, then to do it again......is just ridiculous!
Miyagi-Do Karate
Naomi Osaka now has about a million more fans. Great win and total class act. Never really followed her before— she has a solid game.
row_33
sorry to see #4 went out first round, good job in seeding, so Nadal has a cakewalk to the final
Miyagi-Do Karate
Saw some of that Djokovic/Wawrinka match. Looked like Wawrinka was outplaying him, even before Djokovic injury flared up. in any event, looks like there is a good path for a Nadal/Federer final, which is pretty much what everyone wants. Miyagi-Do Karate
Tough loss for Federer. Clearly injured; that other dude Dimintrov lucked out big time, because he wasn't playing all that great. Roger just missing easy shots.

Wifey is actually flying out tomorrow night to meet up with friends in NYC for the weekend and going to the Open on Sunday. Should I assume she is a BLUE plastic cup? Or perhaps fine crystal? 38 minutes ago, snafu said: What a match is going on now! 6-7 in the 5th set. Berrettimi vs. Monfils. Mom here. The crowd is awesome. Miyagi-Do Karate
Women’s draw has been really entertaining this tournament. Really like Andreescu— very exciting young player with a great power game. I think she can beat Serena.

Gave the dog a bath and washed his beds & toys, watched some of the Jints-Cowgirls game, made some luxurious French toast and bacon for dinner... and then a notification dinged after 9 p.m. that Nadal won in a five-setter. ?.
