Miami considers itself the leader for acquiring Clowney; he doesn’t want to go there

Doesn't this quote from the article fly in the face of "Miami emerges as the leader..."?  Or am I missing something?

"We don’t know all of the intricate details as to why Clowney fired his longtime agent. What we do know is that in the past few days, Tony Pauline was told that Texans head coach Bill O’Brien has been pushing a trade to Miami because of his relationship with Brian Flores. However, Jadeveon Clowney does not want to go to Miami because he would prefer to play for a contender."

He doesn’t want to go there (reported weeks ago) but he thinks he will end up there

The worst thing he can do is let his rights be given to a team that he doesn’t want to play for... at this point if he’s gonna hold out, he’s gotta stay committed.

Although it would be funny if he gets traded there for Tunsil and like a 2nd rounder and ends up walking or holding out again

True enough. Why would Miami send resources away to get a guy who doesn’t want to play there? What, a season of going 4-12 is gonna encourage him to sign a long term deal?

It makes zero sense and they have no QB, even if they get one they still have no line

Despite all this, the Dolphins are clearly at the head of the pack of teams trying to land Clowney because they believe their meeting with him went very well and so far they are the only one team that has met with him.

Part of that meeting included the Dolphins laying out their vision for what they hope to be in the future. Clowney apparently came into the meeting with apprehension of what the Dolphins are likely to be short-term, in 2019, with a roster that lacks an obvious star quarterback.

I really hope this happens.    Miami is going to suck for the two years they can hold on to him and if he does sign a long-term deal, it will eat up their cap for a long time.

You'd think the Fins might have learned a lesson from all their failed FA signing over the past few years...but thank God for Steven Ross!
