I'd rather have him than oliver.

If that's the way you feel, then go out and buy every Oliver jersey you can find, burn them, and buy yourself one of these to wear on Sundays: https://www.nflshop.com/detroit-lions/mens-detroit-lions-tj-hockenson-nfl-pro-line-blue-player-jersey/t-25932497+p-6972387571966+z-9-1453192132

Your commentary sucks.

I think he’s definitely capable of being an effective pass catching TE and he has traits that could make him special. Will be interesting to watch his usage, with Daboll being a former TE coach in NE’s system  I am hopeful

Remember during the draft, as soon as Beane took Knox at #96, the Patriots traded out of the #98 spot.

A reasonable conclusion here is that the Pats* wanted Knox, and we hopped in front of them and took the guy they wanted. That made me happy.

as he did in college, really wanted Hockenson. Had amazing hands and blocked like a lineman. Would have been a great weapon for Allen , hopefully Knox can do that for us.

If he does become a star we can take solace in the fact that he didn't fall to us.

They were very interested in him because he actually said that he thought he was going to the Pats - they must have told him that they were taking him if he was there, the Bills knew they wanted him, and traded up

If he does become a star, fans and the local media (especially Howard Simon who wrote an entire article, where he said he wanted no one else at 9 but Hockenson) will be saying that Beane should have traded up for him, and that he could have gotten a DT in rounds 3 or 4.

The most surprising thing about this is that Howard Simon wrote an article.

always good getting one on the Pats. Besides Knox is better off here, we are heading up and the Pats are at the end of their run.

Trading up in the top 10 for a TE is insanity.  We already made that mistake with a certain WR.  Let's just wait and see whether Olver or Hoch has a better career and not speculate off of a preseason game.

True.  Except, Hockenson was viewed as the next Gronkowski.  Fans would have been thrilled to trade up in the top 10 for a TE, if there was a guarantee that he'd have a career like Gronk did.

If that was true he would've been taken in the top three.  He didn't have the muscle mass or hand size that Gronk had.  The most common comparison I heard if he reached his full potential was Zach Ertz.  Fans wouldn't have been thrilled with a trade up after the Watkins debacle, but if he develops into a stud then you have a point,

Agreed, he is not similar to Gronk. Knox is, however  (size/speed). Unless he was being compared to him in terms of projected impact. But not similar In style/traits
