In his return to action, Cam Newton's arm looked fine, but it was his left foot that became the biggest concern.

Returning to the field for the first time since Week 15 last season when his year was ended with a shoulder injury, Newton left Thursday's 10-3 preseason loss against the New England Patriots after the third series and limped to the training table with a left foot injury and did not return to the game. Newton was briefly looked at and eventually escorted to the locker room.

The injury has been characterized as a sprain and X-rays were negative, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a source. Newton is scheduled for further tests on Friday.

WFNZ radio personalities spent the better part of the 10-2 show arguing about him sitting because the reward wasn’t worth the risk.

I can only imagine the doom and gloom I’m about to hear on the ride to work this morning???

Teams are finally realizing you need to sit your best players for the preseason games. Plus the mess in Canada last night doesn't help

He could just as easily twisted/sprained his ankle putting his dog outdoors.  This whole line of thinking has run amok,  it’s football you know, a full contact violent activity, odds are that every starter in the league can get hurt at any time during any game.  Lets just stop with the: “ oh my, he might get hurt” silliness.

Go Bills!!!

Of course he could....but why risk it in a game that means nothing?

And, the” fire Rivera and Hurney, start Grier, go 1-15 and blow it all up “ calls and texts have started in CLT.

See guys, we aren’t the only irrational, reactionary fan base?

Yeah, they're everywhere....I just never understood the blow it up, go 1-15.....why do people want to see their team do this?  Whatever happened to wanting to win?

Practice at team facilities has seen many starters injured and out for extended time as well, are they gonna stop playing there as well? This line of thinking has run amok. So if one starter some where gets injured they should all just stop participating what a load of ?. It’s football people.

^^

This. ‘I’m Worried about McDermott’.

WTH is he thinking? Starters to play at least a Half? I’m thrilled to see them live on CBS, but I’d prefer to see ONLY Backups.
