CCP (oligarchs) needs an open HK to do business. Nobody wants the US and UK remove HK's special designation, which can be done without a single fired shot. I don't agree, we have a say in our government and it protects us from foreign threats. This is very different. The Chinese army would laugh at citizens armed with what really would be nothing more than pop guns against armor. While the government could have tried to solve it by bringing in tanks and bombing the protesters they of course couldn't do that without being ripped apart by the U.S. citizens.
