Buffalo Bills’ best contract values of 2018: Robert Foster

Yes but he basically signed same contract as he had prior to being waived.

Both Foster and Wallace were waived and re-signed. The fact they were re-signed for similar amounts as their previous contracts is irrelevant. The CBA only considers the first contract a player signs to be their "Rookie Contract." Once they have been subject to waivers, cleared (original contract voided since they weren't claimed) and re-signed, the rule about not being able to renegotiate rookie contracts until after 3 years (2 years for undrafteds) no longer applies.

Assuming neither had been waived, it seems they would both be able to renegotiate after the 2019 season since 2018 was their first of 2 years.  But since both have been waived, it doesn't matter anyway.

Good to know.  Having a plethora of talent that your organization scouted and acquired is a good problem for Beane to have.

The Bills have additional control because they will not become UFAs they will be ERFAs after 2019 instead. Which means we get a 3rd year of them at a cheap rate.
