Back, by absolutely NO popular demand, here is Gunner's roster thread. As the regulars among you will recall this isn't just a projection of who makes the roster this is a bit more nuanced. It is trying to categorise the locks, the likelies and the hopefuls. Here is my first stab at categorising the players currently on the Bills' 2019 roster (missed a few out who I consider basically no-hopers but if one flashes I will add in later updates).

All clear? Then let us begin....

Josh Allen

Matt Barkley

Tyree Jackson

Running Back

LeSean McCoy

Devin Singletary

Frank Gore

Patrick DiMarco

T.J Yeldon

Marcus Murphy

Christian Wade

Senorise Perry

Tight End

Tyler Kroft (remember this is excluding major injury - chance he is IR'd very little chance he is flat out released)

Dawson Knox

Lee Smith

Tommy Sweeney

Jason Croom

Wide Receivers

John Brown

Cole Beasley

Robert Foster

Zay Jones

Andre Roberts

Isaiah McKenzie

Duke Williams

David Sills

Ray-Ray McCloud

Nick Easley

Cam Phillips

Offensive Line

Dion Dawkins

Mitch Morse

Cody Ford

Ty Nsekhe

Quinton Spain

Jon Feliciano

Spencer Long

Russell Bodine

LeAdrian Waddle

Siran Neal

Dean Marlowe

Special Teams

Stephen Hauschka

Reid Ferguson

Cory Carter

Corey Bojorquez

Chase McLoughlin

Before anyone raises it - yes - one of the two punters will likely make the team. But I don't know that either has a leg up at this early stage, both are coming off long term injury and it isn't beyond the realm of possibility they end up bringing in a guy a week or so before the season as they did last year. For these reasons I don't think you can call either of them "probable" at this stage. They are the very definition of battling for a roster spot.

That gives me:

31 locks;

13 probables;

9 spots very much up for grabs.

Thought interesting to do a comparison with where we were when I started this thread last year (which was later it was the eve of camp so not quite a like for like comparison but close enough). Last year I had:

28 locks;

15 probables;

10 spots up for grabs.

Of my 28 locks last year 27 made the 53 (Colton Schmidt didn't though obviously did end up back here for a spell in the course of the season) and of my 15 probables the only two that didn't - AJ McCarron and Marshall Newhouse - were traded away.

Okay TBD.... as you always do.... let me have it!

Pretty good breakdown.  The only thing I might change is safety.  From what I’ve read Neal has been getting a lot of work at CB/Nickel.  I might put him about Rafael Bush

I can’t scroll through five pages to see if someone else mentioned it already, but LeSean McCoy is definitely not a lock to make this team.  I put his prospects at about 60/40.  There are a bunch of players in blue that have a better chance to make the team than McCoy.  He should absolutely 1000% be in blue at this stage.

Interesting...  I could see it.

I totally disagree. I think unless someone comes and offers a 2nd round pick they intend on McCoy being here. Sal C has said the same a number of times as well. Beane and McDermott were impressed with his leadership last year and they intend on him being here.

I agree and if any RB is on the bubble or blue...I think it's Yeldon.

Does it matter if he's not good at football, as he wasn't last year?  You think they'll keep a guy who ordered a hit on his ex-girlfriend solely because of his influence on the younger kids?  Again, I think he'll probably make the team but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he didn't.  It would surprise me way less than if Gore, Roberts, Murphy, Lawson or Phillips didn't make it, among others.  Also, 2nd round pick???  He's worth a fourth max.  Probably a fifth.

Great thread! Here are my thoughts:

1. The defense looks mostly settled to me. The only real roster battles I see are at DE behind the top 3 (my money is on the rookie Johnson who has the most upside) and big nickel (Bush, Neal, Maurice Alexander the LB). I only see a couple battles for starting positions at DE opposite Hughes (slight edge to Murphy) and CB opposite White (slight edge to Kevin Johnson).

2. I think the interesting battles at OL are more about who starts where and less about who makes the team. My best guess is that they plan to keep 9: 2 pure tackles (Nsekhe, Waddle) + 2 tackles who can play guard (Dawkins, Ford) + 3 interior guys who can play center (Morse, Long, Feliciano) + 2 pure guards (Spain, Teller).

3. At the skill positions on offense, most also seem to be settled in my opinion: 2 QB (Allen, Barkley), 3 RB (McCoy, Gore, Singletary), DiMarco, 4 WR (Jones, Foster, Beasley, Brown), 3 TE (Kroft, Smith, Knox). That means Jackson, Perry, Yeldon, Sills, Williams, McCloud, McKenzie, Roberts, Croom, Sweeney, etc. are all fighting for only 4-6 roster spots with a heavy emphasis on special teams ability and practice squad eligibility.

5. The punter job is definitely up for grabs between Bojorquez and Carter. I'm giving the slight edge to Bojorquez until I see Carter in action.

6. Looking over my current roster predictions, I have the defense mostly returning intact from last year but the offense only returning EIGHT players! Those 8 are Allen, Barkley, McCoy, DiMarco, Jones, Foster, Dawkins, and Teller.

I don't think McCoy was the problem last year. The accusation about his girlfriend is unproven and I agree on what he is worth in a trade but the Bills are not trading him for that. They are only trading him if someone offers way over the odds which I don't forsee and therefore I think he is a lock.

I'm not sure Robert Foster is lock just yet, definitely a probable.

Find me a WR in the history of the NFL that had a better rookie season and then didn’t make his team in his second season.  He is a 100% lock to make the team, the OP is correct.

He was cut once and was the best of the worst WR's in the league. I just don't consider him a lock.
