Yes, people are now hyper-focused on the selection process compared to a couple generations ago. In part due to disproportionate and increasing media resources allocated to it. We don't have the issues of a bad economy including crushing inflation, high gas prices, and a first go around with an unpopular war in Vietnam to compete for 30 minutes of your time 6:30 in the evening.
