Bill Barnwell has a nice piece on ESPN about potential cut/trade candidates for teams. Not surprisingly there are some bigger safeties on there. Josh Jones is intriguing..........220# guy who ran a 4.4......former second round pick from NC State.........might fill a niche in the McDefense for the price of a late pick. A few years ago we started hearing some NFL observers saying that safeties were becoming more and more important and indeed we were seeing them drafted earlier now a lot of those guys are getting cut. Every team was gonna need a Mark Barron like hybrid! Remember that line of thinking well. Safeties are no more or less important in today's game. Solid coverage skills are now MANDATORY and run support is somewhat de-emphasised, but their import is the same. GreggTX
It appears that speed is his achilles heel, but he's solid in all other regards. I'm wondering if he could add some muscle mass and move up to the 2nd level.
Tipster19
This kid smothers people! He’s like a boa constrictor, he chokes them out! I like this pick.
Stank_Nasty
Zierleins 3 favorite picks by round....http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001030079/article/2019-nfl-draft-lance-zierleins-three-favorite-picks-by-round Jaquan Johnson, S, MiamiDrafted: 181st overall pick, Buffalo Bills He doesn't have great speed, and he's undersized, but Johnson is the embodiment of a ball player at the safety spot. Johnson was still waiting to hear his name called in Round 6 because teams fear he's not fast enough to range and not big enough to bang, but the tape speaks volumes, in my opinion. He's rarely out of position, has leadership qualities and is a consistent, downhill tackler. This is a great value pick
FeelingOnYouboty
Quote 30. Green Bay Packers – Jaquon Johnson, SS, Miami (Fla.) My most misguided projection in this mock, Johnson is an easy player to appreciate because of his alpha attitude and aggressive play style. But he is undersized with average speed, and those types of defensive backs are never drafted high. Drafted: No. 181 overall by the Buffalo Bills Dane Brugler revisited his early 2018 mock and look at who he had in the 1st Round.

Interestingly, Sal said this morning that outside of the top 2 picks, this is the rookie he expects to have the most immediate impact. Won’t start obviously but sees a primary depth role because he’s very pro-ready with his game. Edited May 10, 2019 by YoloinOhio

SCBills
I think our scouts knocked it out of the park with this pick and Vosean Joseph. Both, I believe, are instant depth and future potential starters.
aristocrat
it helps a lot this kid is coming in behind two very good safeties
JerseyBills
Hurricane fans are absolutely raving about this kid on twitter. They're convinced we got the steal of the draft, which led me to do some more digging and this kid can PLAY, wow. I think he can come in and challenge Bush immediately for starting in the Big Nickel package McD likes to run.
