Potential Day 3 Targets

Recommended Posts

If you haven't noticed, every player we have selected has been someone we had contact with through the process. Ed Oliver had an official visit and McD was very hands on at his pro day. We met with Cody Ford at the Combine. We had a private meeting at Devin Singletary's pro day and we had a private workout with him. Dawson Knox was an official visit and we had a private workout with him.

For what it's worth, I used the cover 1 article from the below post, along with player rankings from Matt Miller's Big Board and The Draft Network's player ratings. I will cite their rankings respectively for each player.

WR:

Kelvin Harmon, NC State (66, 30): Combine Meeting

Anthony Johnson, Buffalo (130, 147): Local Pro Day

Gary Jennings, West Virginia (149, 178): Private Workout

Damarkus Lodge, Ole Miss (232, 96): Pro Day Meeting & East/West Shrine Game

Terry Godwin, Georgia (265, 168): East/West Shrine Game

EDGE:

Christian Miller, Alabama (82, 62): Pro Day Meeting

Shareef Miller, Penn State (175, 207): Local Pro Day

Maxx Crosby, Eastern Michigan (308, 195): Official Visit & Private Workout

CB:

Amani Oruwariye, Penn State (98, 25): Local Pro Day

Hamp Cheevers, Boston College (226, 248): Official Visit

Blace Brown, Troy (242, 246): East/West Shrine Game

Blessuan Austin, Rutgers (197, NR): Pro Day Meeting

LB:

Vosean Joseph, Florida (80, 121): Official Visit

Curtis Atkins, Memphis (385, NR): Private Workout & Pro Day Meeting

Our remaining picks are currently 147 (5th), 181 (6th), 225 (7th), & 228 (7th). I suspect Harmon, Miller, & Oruwariye will come off the board before we pick, possibly Joseph too.

We have 4 picks left so I would prefer something like this

5th: WR

6th: DE

7th: LB

7th: P

I'll flip your 5th/6th

5th: Crosby, if he's there

6th: A Johnson, I've been wanting to see them pick him

7th: LB

7th: CB/S, don't we have to have the obligatory secondary pick?

Maybe not this year with Johnson and Gaines being signed along with Wallace and Taron back into the mix...

Based on the rankings I'm thinking

147: Gary Jennings

181: Maxx Crosby

225: Blace Brown

228: Curtis Atkins

No way Crosby makes it that far.  Doubt he is even on the board at 147.

A guy that we met with that's not listed is Emmanuel Hall. He is perfect for a guy like Allen

Preston Williams - WR (Colorado State) 7th Rd

He's this year's Nathan Peterman at WR for me.

Hoped for the Williams and Andy Isabella draft duo as the draft neared.

I just love that you can use Nathan Peterman as a positive. I like Williams too

We shall see. I assume you would've said the same about Kelvin Harmon in round 4 a couple days ago. TDN & Matt Miller are both pretty good, both have him ranked lower than pick 181. If he's gone I'm also fine with Shareef Miller.

I want nothing to do with Kelvin Harmon. I just don’t see the love. The guy timed slow and plays slow too. Also doesn’t look or play as big as he measured. I’d take A Johnson over Harmon. Riley Ridley doesn’t look anything as talented as his brother on film. Just a good last name. Hall from Mizz I think it is I think would be worth a flyer. Kind of a Robert Foster build. And really fast.

Im wondering if Butler bombed interviews?  Way too talented to slide to round 4. Something is up.
