3, possibly 4 QBs taken in the 1st rd before the Bills pick?

How about the Bills trading up to get Bosa?

Now THAT is something to think about!

This is an unpopular thing to say but I wouldn't draft Bosa if he slid to us at 9.

Pigging backing on some of the other comments here...

Murray is going 1/1...that's been apparent for a long time.  And he should.  he is the one blue chip prospect in this draft.

Keep in mind, this is supposed to be a very very good defensive draft....and lots of teams have settled their QB situations....

As Alphadawg mentioned..if paying attention the Broncos...you'd understand that Flacco is their QB...Elway says he's "entering his prime" and that they gave Flacco assurances they wouldn't be taking a QB high this year....they hired a 60 year old, defensive minded coach.  That guy doesn't have the skill set nor the time to develop a rookie.  EVERYTHING they've done this offseason is about NOT taking a QB at 10.

It would appear Dave Gettleman has doubled and trippled down on Eli Manning....and I can't see them using pick 6 on a QB either...not this draft...not on these prospects.

Miami just signed Fitz....I believe that did that with every intention of starting him this year while they see what develops next year.

My personal evaluation of this draft class is that Murray will be a start.  Haskins isn't that good.  Lock is going to be a bust...and even as I know that QB's are usually climbing up draft boards this time of year...I actually think Haskins and Lock are going to slide quite a bit.  Jones too.

Given the depth of defensive talent...and the lack of legit prospects at QB...along with most teams having a guy...I can see ONE QB being gone by the time the Bills select.  I think the Redskins are truly the one team that will take a shot at Haskins or Lock.  If both are there when they pick, it will probalby be Haskins.

My thoughts on the class

Muarry = STAR

Haskins = could be ok in the right spot...he'd need talent around him....and even then, I just don't see it happening.

Lock = I am a HUGE Missouri Fan...and even I think Lock is going to be an NFL bust.  his 40 speed does NOT translate to the football field.  He doesn't make anticpation throws at all....his strength is deeper routes over the middle...he SUCKS..and sucks hard at anything outside the numbers...the deeper it is, the worse it is.  Good gritty college QB....not an NFL QB in my opinion.

Jones, Thorson....etc...5th round or later project types who'll never amount to anything.

The ONE other guy in this class who I think would be a good NFL QB is Grier.  He is UNDERATED...and some team will get him a bit later, and have a gem on their hands...he gets in the right spot and he'll make this a two QB class. He is the guy the Redskins should take but won't.  Cincinnatti should be all over this kid in round 2.

Some interesting thoughts here, Zerovoltz. Thanks for the post.

Do you think Will Grier is a system QB? He looked good all season, but does Holgorson's system make him look good? He is never mentioned among the top 5 QB prospects, but Daniel Jones usually is.

Murray and Haskins WILL go before 9.

Anyone else would be a huge surprise, but crazier things have happened. Just because a "class" isn't highly touted doesn't mean it's not going to bear fruit.

2017 was considered weak. How'd that work out?

2017 was only considered weak by a few talking heads. It was always a good class.

I don't think the 2019 class is as good as the 2017 class, but at least with Murray's about turn and Haskins arrival on the scene it has some genuine early round prospects. At one point mid season it looked like the 2013 class all over again.

It looks like Murray is going #1, Haskins may or may not go top 10. If any of the others go in the 1st it is a major reach.

Murray goes 1.  If Giants trade for Rosen, chance there could be bidding war for Haskins at #9 before the Broncos pick.  Can’t imagine Elway passing on Haskins.  I could see Raiders coming up to pick 9 if Haskins is still there.

i can see the giants trading for rosen and not giving up their 1st rounder.  i think they go oline there. ie. jonah williams. that leaves haskins sliding our way.

as far as the jets, i think greggo the ahole will end up with josh allen. so...

1. murray

2. bosa

3.allen

4.q.williams

5.bucs?

6.jonah williams

7.jags?  dk?

8. greedy williams

9.oliver or trade with cincy. / atl. / wash. / chucky....who knows?

one thing i do know for sure is that mcfo will do something that i never would have seen coming.

if they do trade down i hope they concentrate on rushers  x2   sweat and ximines. maybe they like a 3 tech in rd. 3 or 4....or maybe they stay put and take oliver.

i myself would probably rather have oaklands later 1st rd picks with a swap of 2nds, but like i said, i'll just expect the unexpected.

i do however believe at pick 9 the phone will be blowing up.

Murray, and possibly Haskins.  If Lock goes top 10, I'll be pleasantly surprised.   I just haven't heard that much buzz about Daniel Jones.  I'd be shocked if he goes that high.  I think it's likely 4 QBs go in round one, but last year was a unique combination of quality and need.  this year, as almost every year, there is some need, but the quality is suspect.

Ideally Lock gets picked at #9

There is just no way to know.  The guess on 2 is likely, then just a matter of how desperate some teams get to stretch on a QB.  The counter though is pass rushers.  Everyone always wants one and there are several in this draft.

One part I agree is we will have a talent at 9 or even 11 if we trade back.

As one-year starters, how are both Haskins and Murray not reaches?

Well they are picking at 3, so they are by default going to get a highly skilled player. For some reason, an pass rush specialist scares me more than a DT. Edge rushers is a more highly rated position.

Except Aaron Donald was the most disruptive  defensive lineman last season. It’s not about position but impact. Position really doesn’t matter at the line, what the player brings to the table does.

I think technically they are. Both are likely to go higher than they should. But they are normal QB reaches. You take a guy who might be the 16th or 17th best player in the draft at #1 because he is a Quarterback. It is the Trubisky reach.

Taking Lock or Jones or anyone else in this class in the first round is an EJ Manuel reach.

Elway had the most potent offense in NFL history and got blown out in the SB by a defensive and run based team.

.

Do you actually believe this? If so, are you basing your opinion on talent or statistics?

Your point is very well taken but I would not go THAT far. :)

I presume you mean in a trade down for Buffalo.  Assuming that, I agree.  Of course, the ongoing buzz has been that John Elway likes Lock for Denver at #10.  If there is some GM of a team below Denver who likes him, he is being really quiet about it.  Buffalo would be in a good spot to take advantage on draft day.  That trade won't happen before, because that would give Denver the chance to trump that GM's move.

Now THAT is something to think about!

After the holdout his brother staged at the front of his first year, staged by the father it was reported, drafting another BOSA has downside not discussed on this board.  Some folks just aren't worth  dealing with in this world.  That family is one.....despite their on field capabilities.

I like the idea of being able to pick up an additional 2nd depending on how far back we might move.
