Tulsi Gabbard

Recommended Posts

My first topic thread ever on this forum.....I tread lightly in here with you sharks :)

Since my time of leaving the military and particulary this year I have been trying to educate myself on politics.....I try very hard to look at things without bias and let opposing views enter my mind openly so that I can evaluate them and have at least a informed take.   I admit I find this very hard to do for some reason.

What I think I have come to a conclusion on is I cant be a left or a right......because both sides make mistakes and dont follow through on the promises they make to get into office.

BUT.....and for some reason this really hits me where it counts.    I think that our President is a representative of all of us to the world.....so I need for that person to ACT Presidential.

For this reason.....there is no way I can support Trump.....who I find to be a scumbag of the highest order....everything about him repulses me......it seems that he does things in such a way that our senses KNOW that it is wrong but it is done with such a regularity that you become numb to it and it becomes the new normal (and when I say this I am NOT defending past democrat presidents.....only that when you see that the White house briefing has become a war zone/drama......a president twittering hateful things about a dead McCain (who I am sure was not perfect) but just on twitter all night spewing hate and negativity regardless of what is going on in the world and not the proper time for it (if there actually is a time)......

Is Trump doing some positive things?   Possibly.....but his lack of Presidential presence overshadows all to me.

So to my question.   What are peoples opinions of Tulsi Gabbard.   I have been studying her interviews and I have to say I am impressed right now.....now as a democrat but as a person.   I freely admit that being ex military myself and the fact that she is ex military and served in the same conflicts I did probably have an affect on my judgement.

What opinions do people have here?   As a President or maybe even a Vice President?

Speaking for myself, I'm the opposite, I don't care if Trump is the biggest douchbag on the planet, I'm a results person, and Trump has and is doing a lot of good for this country. Obama acted very presidential, spoke very elegantly and did nothing, or very few good things. As far Gabbert, I know little of her, but if she's part of the "socialist "crowd, and green deal bunch, she won't stand a chance

Educating yourself on the realities of politics is an important, and often difficult, step. So, regardless of our differences of opinion on the specifics - good on you.

My suggestion would be to consider the possibility the two party system isn't truly a two party system. There's no "right team" and "left team", no "GOP v DNC" - that's the shiny objects designed to confuse, motivate, and divide people so that they can more easily be controlled. The reality of our system at the national/federal level is that there is the uniparty establishment whom work together much more than they work against one another.

Coming to grips with this reality is the first step to truly understanding what you're looking at when you peer behind the curtain in the beltway.

This is a great way to start to sift through the realities and fictions of our current system. Trump was not a member of the uniparty, thus his win and administration is a threat to said establishment - which extends beyond politicians and into the corporate media, entertainment industry, intelligence community, and the global community. For 2+ years now, millions (billions) of dollars have been spent trying to cement this image of Trump in your mind:

He's a Russian asset.

He stole the election.

He's a racist.

He's a divider.

He's a warmonger.

He's a Nazi.

He's clinically insane.

He's an authoritarian.

Getting you to buy into that narrative - of which millions have - allows you to turn off your critical thinking when it comes to examining the news of the day. More to the point, it makes you rally around those whom Trump has been attacking - names which just happen to be at the top of the uniparty pecking order for the most part (Clinton, Obama, Bush, McCain, et al).

Of course the reality of the situation is not what is being presented to most Americans through the corporate news and media world. The question I would suggest you ask is why?

Why is Trump such a threat to the groups and individuals who have (largely) controlled the world of politics, finance, and media for the past several decades? These are the same people after all who have lied this country into 17+ years of endless war, created a massive surveillance state that monitors each and every one of us 24/7, have stolen the wealth and land of the people of this country, have rolled back our civil liberties and protections (and lied about doing so), and worked to keep us divided and fighting amongst ourselves so that we don't instead turn our attention to solving the issues of the day. I'm talking again about names like: Bush, Clinton, Obama, Clapper, Brennan, Hayden, Comey, Kerry, McCain, Ryan, Kristol, Frum et al...

The enemy of my enemy is my friend...

If you start to dig into that question, I would suggest your views on Trump the man/POTUS would begin to shift.

My vote in 2016 was a write in for Tulsi Gabbard. I couldn't vote for HRC nor Trump, and I found Tulsi's willingness to call out the Military Industrial Complex and US Intelligence Communities push for perma-war refreshing. Despite some red flags (and there are some with her), my experience with her has shown her to be a thoughtful, intelligent, and principled person.

... But she spoke out against the MiC and USIC (ie the true power players of our system) and thus she has no chance to win. She's been thrown under the identity politics bus and they backed up over her gleefully to make the point. She's not on team establishment, thus she will be given daggers instead of a ladder during the primary process.

Truthfully, there's no one in the current field of democrats, or the expected field, who will be able to stop Trump in 2020.

Given the amount of fun I have watching leftists meltdown over Trump, it's not likely I would ever vote for a Dem, especially given how far left the party has shifted.

So if I were to give her a chance, I would be curious as to her position on open borders, late-term abortions, health care, anti-semitism, the Green Deal, removal of the electoral college, and socialism.

These are all positions the Dems have openly and feverishly embraced for 2020. I'd be curious where Gabbard stands on them.

That said, let's be honest...the Dems won't let her in. If they were happy to cockblock Sanders, they won't think twice about kicking out Gabbard so they can run the perfect identity candidate, who would be a gay female minority: Cory Booker.

Trump's no-holds-barred biggest sin is he beat the annointed one fair and square in the 2016 election.  His victory called forth the dogs of war.  He has the temerity to actually do what he promised to do during his campaign, and that is anathema to the DC insiders.  Democrats are so busy fashioning strategies to keep such an outlander from ever again disturbing their feathered nests that they have done nothing that might be seen as helping their constituencies.

Good luck in your quest, John.

Why does it matter to you how he acts? Do you think it hurts us with our allies?

I am not going to speak for anybody else but me and others can think what they want.

I want my president to at least know how to carry himself as a leader of a country.   Donald Trump has NO moral compass.

I fought for this country.   I care what people think of it.   I care how the leader of it acts.

For the record.  I could not vote for Hillary Clinton either......something about her seems equally not natural and not ethical.

That is how I know that I am neither right or left.   And has rhino puts so well I dont even know if there is a real difference.

I would EASILY vote for a indie that I thought was up to the task.

So, would you prefer a president that weakens the country but acts presidential while doing so?

Or would you prefer a president that strengthens our country but doesn't act presidential?

Obama was the former. Trump is the latter.

No I would prefer a president that strengthens the country AND acts presidential.

And frankly I dont think that is too much to ask.

Are you able to provide any examples that prove this? Or is it that his way of doing things dont align with yours? There isn't one way to lead. IMO actions are more important than words (not to say words arent important).

Have you paid ANY attention to who's been president for the past 20 years?

Well Joe,

If you had read my initical post you would see that I have not.

Once again......this is a lot of fact finding and informing myself of politics and how things work......not me telling anyone else what they should think.

Yes.  I feel that we as the American People are OWED that regardless of whether it has been happening or not.
