With all the moves, I'm now conflicted at 9

Do you (and others) who want us to draft Oliver like him more than Quinnen Williams?

I have not seen enough of Oliver to offer a pertinent opinion but count me as one (perhaps the only one) who does not think it impossible for Quinnen to be there at #9. He does not have a large body of work because he was only a starter for 1 season.

I'm probably wrong but I have a hunch that he will be there if we stand pat at 9.

Honestly, I’m going off the word of everyone else.  I just know he was considered a top 2 prospect going into the season and I know he has a falling out with his coach.

I haven’t seen Williams drop that far in the few mock drafts I’ve looked at, so I didn’t consider him.  Also, if he only started one year, would McDermott even want him?

I usually wait until after free agency to research players and get obsessed with people for no reason.  Much like I hated the idea of drafting Allen last year.  That’s how much my scouting is worth ?

The more I see these other QBs move up boards, the more I think the other Josh Allen could be had for a decent trade.  To me so far, he seems like the best overall fit and impact player not named Bosa

i'm all about the offensive line.

Yeah, me too (surprise, surprise)!!!

Allen now has better targets. He needs better blocking so that he isn't always running for his life. We also need an improved ground game which comes with better blocking.

A strong OL is exactly what this team needs to take the next step imo.

He was tremendous last season. Jonah Williams called him "a 300 pound bar of soap."

I did read an article in which Coach Saban said that he was approx. 260 pounds in high school. Alabama had him listed at 6'4" but at the combines he measured 6'3" (not so tall). He really kicked ass in the 40 yard dash, for whatever that is worth to a DT.

I'm with you.....this draft can be a great one if the Bills don't screw it up.

Looking at the roster (as it stands Thursday morning), I see our biggest needs as follows:

1.  Tight End

The Tyler Kroft signing was OK if we are looking at him as our #2, but we could still use a top threat in the passing game and a blocking specialist.  We only have two TEs on the roster right now, so we are definitely adding more bodies before camp.  My eyes are firmly on TJ Hockinson right now if I'm doing a mock draft.

2.  Guard/Tackle

We are now fully set at two positions on the O-Line with Dawkins and Morse.  I really like the competition we have for the other three spots with Teller, Long, Feliciano and Nsekhe.  There is also flexibility to move people around.  But I would still like to see one more starting caliber option brought on.

3.  Defensive End

I'm a big believer that you need four strong players in your DE rotation.  We have three.  If we can add Ezekiel Ansah, we can cross off this box.

4.  Defensive Tackle

Same as above.  You really need four strong players in your DT rotation.  We have three on the roster and lack a 3-Tech to replace Kyle Williams.

5.  Wide Receiver

If we went into the season with the current group of WRs, I would be comfortable.  But right now we have a roster full of #2 guys.  It couldn't hurt to add a guy with #1, double-team drawing potential.

If there is any way to get Josh Allen, it’s Josh Allen, 100%. But I think he goes top 4 at worst. Could go 2-3 range easily.

We can't have two Josh Allen's on this team. The universe would implode from the mass confusion that would create.

The two clearest, most glaring needs on the roster right now are at TE and 3T.

Adding a young, stud tight end to grow with Josh Allen and a penetrating 3-technique to keep McDermott's defense humming are the two most IMMEDIATE priorities.

Given that Hughes and Lawson are up at the end of this year and the Bills defense was poor at sacking the opposing quarterback in 2018, Edge Rusher is a need as well. It seems like the Bills want to fill this hole in free agency, as well, with the Ansah visit on the way. Tackle is a need, too, but the contract they gave Nsekhe suggest that they think he can start for a year or two if needed.

If they completely don't address DT and TE any further in free agency, I expect those are your likely 1st and 2nd round picks in some order. At DT, I like Ed Oliver and Christian WIlkins. At TE, I obviously love Hockinson, but Irv Smith is a guy I think the Bills may take a long look at. He has familiarity with Daboll, speed to burn, and there's a decent chance he's there in the early 2nd round.

no.1 thing they'll consider is pedigree father and uncle both nfl players.  guys like these grow up in 24/7 football households which are still there to mentor.

look at tremaine edmunds and his family.  pedigree is huge. irv smith may only be 6'4"245 but if he's that dependable deep middle i'm down with it. basically a big bodied receiver that can still block.

Absolutely. A great point!

With all the recent signings, I don’t see 10 draft picks making the team so I think they are going to be wheeling and dealing moving up where needed to get the guy they want. TE, DT and big WR are biggest needs with depth picks elsewhere.

I think the best possible move up will be either from 2nd to late first for either Hock or Fant or from 3rd to 2nd for a Wr that's falling .

I'm beyond happy with who the Bills have gotten so far and think we've put ourselves in great shape for the draft.  I think they need to roll some money over to re-sign our own guys next year, but I would still like to see them spend a little.  With that, I think there are three positions that can really put us over the top.

1 - OT - There's two guys that could go at 9.  Only one of them is projected to be able to play LT.  If we could get him, kick Dawkins to LG, then the other FA's start, our offensive line would be a force.

2 - Ed Oliver - This one is hard for me as McDermott is heavy on rotation.  But his pass rush ability up the middle (just for your Marsha) would fill out the line nicely

3 - Josh Allen - I wasn't on board before, but I can't help but think about it now.  He's a monster in both pass rush and coverage.  With the QB's heating up, I could see him dropping to 4th or 5th.  That's not a crazy jump forward.  Imagine Allen, Milano, and Edmunds for the next 10 years.

I wish there were some guys left in FA that could take one of these positions off the board, but there aren't any studs left.  Starters that are serviceable?  Yes.  If the Bills could pull off a trade where they got their edge rusher while keeping the #9, that would be amazing.

I also still want one of the Iowa TE's and Jarek Cook somehow.

Damn this is all exciting.

If you think you’re conflicted at 9, wait until you get to 40!

i want them to either pick the standout guy at any given position, or trade back for additional solid blue chip starters.

I view Oliver as the likely BPA at #9. I view Quinnen as the #1 prospect in the draft and think he'll be gone in the top 2. He's the only prospect in the draft that I would consider moving up for if he slid outside the top 5.
