WAY too much Patriot* love around here (my analogy)

Recommended Posts

It is really annoying how many posts there have been here this year from the closet Patriot* fans on this board expressing their love for that organization and its players.

There used to be a strip club in Atlanta that had female strippers on one side of the room and male strippers on the other.  Men were not allowed to sit on the side with male strippers, but the bouncers had to constantly remove the men that would sit on the side with the female strippers to pretend they were interested in them, but they would really be watching the male strippers across the room.  They could have easily just gone to the  gay strip club down the road, where they were free to ogle the male strippers all they wanted, but for some reason they chose to pretend to be interested in women and secretly admired the men.

That is what this place is becoming. A bunch of closet Patriot* fans, still pretending to like the Bills but constantly peeking across the room at the Patriots* instead of just going to a Patriot* fan site and admitting they wish they were there instead. Time to admit who you are and stop blocking my view of the Bills on center stage. This is a BILLS fan site. Take your Patriot* love to that other site where you will be accepted for who you are.

Dude, I am with you 1,000%. I ever heard it said (vomit) from some people "that they would not be upset if NE won."  Sorry, but that game pissed me off. I hear the "I'm a fan of the game, got to respect what they've done bs" but come on,  THIS IS BUFFALO.  No one is a fan of the bully who kicked the ***** out of you 30 times. Sooner or later, you have to stand up and take your shot back.

I have no Patriot love. I want to see the boy balls drop in Buffalo and this team sack up like a man (and I mean that literally from our D) and pound these f'kers into the ground in NE next year. No more getting out coached, out-schemed and out-played. No more laying down like you are not even a threat.  The disgust that Robey-Coleman felt about NE should be 10x as much in the Bills locker room.

Every rookie, every young player on this team needs to sit down and watch every beat down the Bills took in the Brady era. Then they need to vow to each other that it will NEVER, EVER HAPPEN TO THEM.  Take pride, work hard, play smart and finally tear this faux dynasty into little pieces.

Worse than that. Someone even started a "let's all cheer for the Patriots*" thread prior to the Super Bowl. Not sure why you would do that instead of just getting up and going to the Patriots* bar down the street.

Faux dynasty?  Please.

I sat in the Rockpile for the first ever home game in 1960 when I was a little kid.  I was there for the AFL championships and the Hit Heard Round the World.  I agonized through the 70's when we lost to the Fish the entire decade.  I put up with the stench of the early 80's and celebrated (And cried) during the Super Bowl run.  And I've had to watch and suffer through the 2000's, and the terrible decision making by the organization coupled with the rise and dominance of the Pats.

I say this all to give some perspective, when I say that I have no love for the Patriots.  While the Fish will always be my most hate rival, the Pats are right behind them.  I can't stand that they have dominated for so long, and I hate the smugness of Brady and the aloofness of Belichick.

But having said that, they are the best coach and QB of all time.  You can be a huge Bills fan, you can hate the Patriots, and still acknowledge the obvious; that they are the best that have ever done their jobs in the history of the league, and that they deserve whatever kudos come their way.  For me it's like the Yankees of my youth, couldn't stand them, but had to acknowledge they were the best.

To not acknowledge the greatness of Brady and Belichick is simply rooted in envy.

Classic Stockholm Syndrome

Exactly! We have been held hostage, oppressed, abused and violated by the Pats for so long that some of the posters on this site know nothing else and have fallen in love with their captors. I expect many of these Pats fanboys to pull a Patty Hearst soon!!

I never said they weren't a dynasty, nor am I denying their "greatness" to use your word, but that doesn't mean I have to be all giddy about them and sing their praises on a website dedicated to being a fan of the Buffalo Bills. (not directed specifically at you Oldman)

The better they do, the more I dislike them. I am just surprised at how many people here seem to fall into the camp of "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em". Not me.

lol seriously?

How old are you?

you've wanted to look at the male strippers...haven't you?

also...let's get this straight.  no one is saying the pats aren't as good as advertised.  they certainly are.   that being said, ***** them right in the ear.  if it wasn't for a few life long friends being pats fans, i'd wish herpes on every one of them. (this wasn't directed at you scotty)

I will do this when they have been out of the league, and are accepting their invitations to the hall of fame. But as long as they continually just run up the numbers of championships and suffocating the rest of the AFC, I will be annoyed with them, and assume they are cheating, or the league is fixed.

I did not open b/c I was just not in the mood, but I presumed that it was more in the vein of "let's root for them so Brady and Belichick retire." Was it not?!

I just choose to acknowledge it by hating them more.  :)

My point is, there are designated places to extoll their virtues, I just don't want this to be one of them.

Couldn't agree more. Why on this good earth would you ever want to root for even one more Pats win, playoffs or not, as a dyed in the wool Bills fan? Of course, it's so much easier to jump on a winning bandwagon, I get all that, but even after our L's this year, no one was going to make me embarrassed to wear my Bills shirts around town. There is a difference between respecting the football accomplishments of that team, versus actively rooting for them to win under any circumstances. I do feel however, that there were a lot of other voices here that would seek to set the OPs' straight when it comes to threads that could've easily been put up in any Pats boards, and that this board was not the right place for that kind of fluff.

The pats have caused me too much grief through the years as a Bills fan, to ever want them to win again. Here's a toughie--if it came down to the Pats beating somebody in order for the Bills to go to the playoffs, I would still be struggling with who to pull for in that scenario, and that is no joke!

It was veiled as that, but basically just a "let's cheer for them because they're awesome" thread. There were plenty of detractors there too, like me.
