He actually is assistant HC/ WR coach / passing game coordinator

It was a promotion and they obviously trust him to coordinate their passing game... he is working with the QBs too

With Roman there they had to go get someone to design the passing game

I really think Josh is going to hit the ground running (and passing) from Day 1.  It may not be Mahomes-like but it's going to be impressive.

Only thing which will hurt Josh is most of the players he practiced with during off-season will be lucky to see the field and even luckier to be on the roster.

Umm, no, I wasn't.  I'm simply referring to a player (Beasley) who was underutilized in Dallas despite having an ability to get open and be a safety net for a QB.  That's it.

OK so you looked at the actual numbers on Beasley and now realize that "always open" is a hard sell for a guy who averages 30 yards receiving per game...........so now he has an "ability to get open".......fair enough.......at least you know when you are beat unlike Doc.

Yeah I remember seeing that pic of them all out to dinner together in CA and basically Foster is probably the only one of those WR likely to make the team.

The only real support that I see for the always open claim on Beasley is that he ranked 7th among pass catchers in average yards of separation per route run according to NextGenStats.

Beasley is "always open" at the end of the half/game when the Cowboys are trailing and the defense is playing off and letting the underneath receiver kill clock for them.............which he spins as "see how Dak always comes to me in crunch time......it's politics".

I like him and he is a nice upgrade over what he HAD in the slot......... but the truth clearly lies somewhere in between his view of his ability and his consistently modest production.

Croom is a lock.

Banging the owners daughter is a sure fire way to make a team even when you probably shouldn't.

He's technically a TE.............but hey you never know.........maybe Pegs wants to get him into the management program ASAP..........Croom might be running the team in 20 years if the lil' Pegs don't want the hassle.     He could be like the less talented Ozzie Newsome but with an ownership stake.   Stranger things have happened.

There's no "beat" here.  The "always open" comment was a direct quote from someone who played with Beasley.

That’s a bunch of horse****

peterman and mccarron might not of been helpful but Culley is far from incompetent

McDermott has no problem canning coaches and never got rid of him. Survived Dennison axing and Daboll kept him aboard

Culley wasn't necessarily incompetent but he was certainly unqualified for the job the Bills gave him based on his experience.   He was a WR coach not a QB coach.  Case closed.

He should not have been hired as a QB in the first place, and that McDermott and Beane hired him for that position raises serious questions about their competence to do their jobs.

Even if McDermott had fired Culley, he and Beane don't get brownie points for finally figuring out that the unqualified guy they hired couldn't do his job very well.   They also don't get applause for thinking a barely competent backup QB and an incompetent backup QB could help Culley do his job -- or help Allen, either.

It's a possibility that Culley left before he could be fired.  He may have realized he was in over his head and looked for a position that actually fit his skill set.

He was a D1 QB and has been a football coach his whole life

he isn’t pegged into 1 position . He is an offensive football coach... and he wasn’t getting fired

andy Reid is considered a “QB guru” , never played QB,  was an oline coach by trade... then got the chance to coach Favre... now he is A QB whisperer

by your argument he is a oline coach... always will be and shouldn’t coach anything else

Culley has been universally praised as a teacher, knows QB fundamentals, and is great in the film room

he also got a promotion in Baltimore... he is assistant HC/WR coach/ Passing game coordinator... he is coordinating their passing game and working with QBs as well

So, because a structural engineer and a software engineer are both engineers, you'd applaud a bank exec who hired a structural engineer to design his bank's computer security system because if the structural engineer can design bridges that don't collapse, he should be able to design computer systems that can't be hacked?  After all, the structural engineer did write a pretty sweet computer security system for his computer security class back in his college days thirty years ago.

Those are apples to oranges... I’ve been employed in football my whole adult life and have coached both sides

there are tons of coaches who can coach multiple position groups... again, Reid is an Oline coach by trade , And now is known as a QB guru

Culley played D1 QB ... he understands the work that goes into it on and off field... the nuances , the film room, mechanics , all of it

Also being an experienced WR coach, brings something to the QB room, because he knows what both look for and how to break down film with both

it can easily be as much a positive as negative ... and it’s not like he was a bum off the... he knows QBs

Apples to apples.   Football coaches, like engineers and most other professionals, specialize in specific disciplines within their field.  The Bills needed a QB specialist for their new QB who had significant need of one, but instead they hired a WR specialist who had no professional QB coaching experience in 30 years.  You can spin that any way you want but it doesn't change the facts of the matter.

While you may be correct that an offensive coach may be able to coach another/all positions on offense, it doesn't mean they're good at doing so.  He's been a WR coach for 30+ years now, presumably for a reason (except for last year) and is with the Ravens as a WR/AHC/passing game coordinator after the Bills let him leave without a fight.  And the Ravens kept their QB coach.

I’m not gonna keep trying to make my point anymore because it doesn’t matter

you go with the $$ as a football coach. You go with the promotions. He was getting promoted as a WR coach, you don’t turn that down

He does know QBs and that is his original trade... QB coaches make good WR coaches because they know how to tell WRs what QBs look for...

He is not a WR coach, he is a football coach.

Andy Reid must be a Oline coach then, he can’t possibly be a good QB coach with what you say

and Culley is the Ravens passing game coordinator/ Assistant HC/ WR coach, he is working with the QBs also... it was a promotion

Well, at least Culley won't have to worry about hitching his wagon to Nate Peterman anymore.
