Doing what he's doing, he is his own boss and sets his own schedule. Who knows what he's actually earning, but the life of an NFL coach is pretty grueling. For five weeks in the summer you are separated from your family at training cam. Then you have long work weeks during the season with film study and game planning in addition to actually working with the players. Then you're involved with the pre draft process and offseason workouts, OTAs, and minicamp. If you're obsessed with football and your family is on board, fine, but it's a pretty big sacrifice with very little job security otherwise. 1 4 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Carolina connection, close with McDermott, and did some big things with Cam Newton early in his career. I don't think Cam liked him very much, but he has some big years under his tutelage. zonabb Posted January 30, 2019 Share Posted January 30, 2019 Best news of the offseason. Culley as QB coach was a major mistake by McDermott and his departure won't be hurtful. A lifetime WR coach with no track record of developing a QB tasked with developing the 7th overall pick was bad from the outset. So yippee!!!! At least admit it, it would be nice if the person who is tutoring Allen sees the game the way Romo does. The guy knows every play before it happens when he is calling the games. Allen's being needed to play meant that his mechanics were essentially forgotten while he worked on the much more necessary in the moment needs to work on understanding and memorizing game plans and how to understand and work on countering defenses. Fans assume everyone wants to coach in the NFL. Palmer is on record as saying he loves to work with young guys. No way to know what he would want to do, assuming the Bills are interested. There's reason to be hopeful Allen will be a genuine franchise qb. Everything else is guesswork. I agree and would like to add that watching film of Mahomes in college the kid had this Gunslingers gunslinger mindset . In this way Mahomes is a throwback type of QB like Kelly, Marino, Favre & Elway. He has that unmeasured "it" factor. I was begging the Bills to draft him. Hopefully Allen can develop that type of mindset because he has the tools to be a true Gunslinger type QB. The problem is McBeane seems to want to ruin him by using him like a Cam Newton. I hate when they call that QB draw play i cringe when i see it. Im not saying JA shouldnt run. He should be running within the structure of the passing gm ala Young, Elway & Rodgers. Whether QB or WR... he was great for Allen’s development Any thoughts on Palmer and other more realistic candidates who fit with what Daboll is attempting to do with the offense? He has a sustainable thing going where - I assume - he gets a VERY healthy check from each QB after they are drafted and signed. It's in California, on his terms.
