Mahomes expected to be the first 200 million dollar man in the NFL

This is a pretty weird report to put out now. They could pick up his 5th year option in 2021 before signing him to any kind of long term contract. That's 3 more years before they have to worry about it. How could anyone possibly know what that contrract will look like?

Itd be relatively easy to project “top tier qb” in the 2020 offseason. At least to a ball park.

His play will likely effect guarantees but outside drastic surprise it shouldn’t be crazy to put pencil estimates together.

I mean his contract is going to be similar percentage wise based on other qb contracts.  Chiefs need to keep surrounding the kid with talent on both sides of the ball to keep winning.

I read there is a propsal to actually keep the qbs contracts separate from the rest of the cap which is interesting.

Most likely if the Bills did not hire loser Sean,  this guy is playing in Buffalo

False about McD.

We most likely can blame Whaley for the trade back per rumors?

"A report from Jason La Canfora from CBS suggested the "final straw" for Whaley was trading back from the No. 10 pick in the first round to No. 27. La Canfora reported that Pegula badly wanted Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who the Chiefs selected with the Bills' No. 10 pick. "

...sorry, but still not ready to buy Whaley was entrusted to be THE final personnel decision maker....see him more as a personnel gopher as in taking orders who to go find....still is the dart board of convenience though.....strictly opinion.........

This report made no sense at the time and it still makes no sense. Whaley wasn’t running tha draft and if Pegula badly wanted Mahomes the we would have taken him. Basically, LaCanfora is really bad

Pegula stated that Whaley put the whole draft together in interviews. Not sure what to believe except what the owner said.

That is mute as it's an opinion of the author. The fact is Pegula is on record for saying this correct?

That is all I can go off of.

He said he “put the draft together”...

I’m not reading as much into that as you are in regards to having full responsibility on the trade down..

That is what Pegula said on record. Whaley on record also stated this ->

"Former Bills G.M. Doug Whaley broke his silence after being fired three weeks ago. Some would say he shouldn’t have.

Appearing on SiriusXM NFL Radio (via Mike Rodak of ESPN.com), Whaley made this claim regarding the trade that saw the Bills drop from No. 10 in round one to No. 27: “As a parting gift, we left them with two [first-round picks] next year.” "

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/05/22/doug-whaley-claims-credit-for-parting-gift-of-two-first-round-picks/

These are the actual facts of what the owner and former GM  have said. I'm more inclined to actually believe that Dougie was fired directly after the draft for not taking a QB by Pegula. Whaley was in charge of the draft based off what he stated 3 weeks after being fired. He had zero to hide or lie about.

Why people say that Doug had no control of that draft is 100% incorrect in my mind when our Owner and former GM have stated otherwise.

Either way, there is absolutely nothing that can be done now except to root for JA.

Whaley and his staff put the draft board and player evaluations together. That’s probably it. From there it was all McD. Pegula knew he was firing Whaley before the draft even started. No way he’s going to let him make the decisions at that point.
