Insurance bet for a pain free Patriots game

Recommended Posts

Well I can't stand the thought of the Pats being in the bowl, so I placed an insurance bet risking $200 to win $270 on the Pats money line (NE to win outright).

I'm prayin they lose, but if they don't at least i'm takin the family out for a steak dinner on the Boston Whiners.

Pain Management.  Thought I'd share.

No point spread.  If the Patriots win, you win $70.

Not a bad strategy, but then it's like the joy of a Patriots loss is costing you $200!

I guess it's worth it!

Maybe I can take out a similar bet, but not on the outcome of the game.

I'll risk $200 to win $70 that Tom Brady will not be seriously injured.

Then if he is, it costs me $200, but that's money well spent.

Yeah but he profits $70.

I see your point though.  Technically that is correct.

You can see I don't gamble.

No he wins 270. The Pats are dogs, taking them with the money line will get you your money back plus the premium minus the VIG

He’d profit 270

I see you gamble a lot more than me.

He said he risked $200 to win $270.

Sounds like you are saying that he really risked $200 to win $470.

$200 goes out, but $470 comes back if the Patriots win.  If I understand what you are saying correctly.

That's exactly right. Let's say you bet the Chiefs moneyline(just to win), you'd win somewhere around 150 for the 200 dollar bet grossing 350. The Pats are the dog so you're going to WIN more than you bet (270 grossing 470). You profit either way(assuming you win), but the profit will always be greater for the dog.

The OP may be a bit disgruntled if the Chiefs win by 1,2, or 3!

You only win 270 where do you get 470 from you only bet the 200 ...not sure what kind of bookie you have but if I remember correctly you lose you the pay the 200 plus the juice

The 470 is what you COLLECT. That figure was used to explain the profit of 270.
