I just looked up his highlights... very nice player! Thank you for bringing him up, he is now on my draft wish list.

Definitely expect them to draft one with the depth.  Plenty of options but I think you could get a really good one in the second round.

One TE in the draft, one in FA

I agree.  Daboll will be highly involved with what type of TEs they get.

6'8" 260, can block and catch.....what's not to love?

Hockenson is by far the best all around TE to come out in the last few years.

Funny thing is, he’s a taller more athletic Dallas Witten.

Hopefully Dallas Witten is Jason’s even better brother?

I thought it was the love child of Dallas Clark and Jason Witten

Really like Irv Smith but we won’t be in a position to get him most likely.   He’ll go later in round 1

YES. A 6'8" target who can not only block, but runs solid routes and catches the ball. Think an upgraded version of Scott Chandler.

That would work.

I just hope he declares for draft. Then I am all in on Hockenson as well. An upgrade at tight end is just as much of a need as wr.

I like Alex O from Missouri and Irv Smith from Alabama. Irv Smith will test really well, super athletic and both good pass catchers.

Smith is impressive.

As mentioned above, Zach Gentry is an interesting option.  He went to Michigan as a highly-touted 6'7" athletic QB.  Harbaugh saw a much better future for Gentry as a TE and converted him.  Although he's had a couple of bad drops this season (in particular against Ohio State), he has been productive over the last couple of years.  The last Michigan QB converted to TE to play in the NFL was the Bills' own Jay Riemersma, who was a pretty good player.  Gentry has a higher ceiling than Jay, as he is bigger and more athletic.  Could be a good fit for the Bills.

I like Gentry's upside, but he never really seemed to make plays. Screwed up in the OSU game bigtime. I think he's got some potential, but I wouldn't go any higher than a 5th.

I'd be more inclined to draft an athletic TE like Smith or Wilson and sign a guy like Maxxxxx Williams in FA'cy.

I like Smith also but leaning towards a Round 3 grade at this stage...

If they miss out then so be it... there will be quality guys available still on Day 3..

I agree. Depending on which route they take and how things fall in the draft I wouldn't mind trading back and grabbing 1 if need be. Could also possible land a good 1 in the 3rd depending on how things fall.

I like Katchme Ascore. He’s should be available in the later rounds.

I predict Visa problems will keep him out of WNY.

At least, it seems like breaking the law.......

Get me two TEs this year

It’s rare to have to have a strong crop of TE’s in the Draft, so with 10 picks, I completely agree. It’s one less FA we have to buy.

More Love for Hock - I hope he declares. I saw a few mocks that had NE taking him in the 1st to replace an aging Gronk.

Some comparisons being made to another Iowa TE prospect from the class of 2017

George Kittle:

Since Kittle holds a single season record of 1377 rec yards last year - high praise indeed. Iowa keeps producing some good ones.

exactly. I was watching Fant this year and kept noticing the "other" guy was doing better. Hes a much better blocker as well. Maybe we can get both and have our version of Gronk and Hernandez .

I'm a Jace Sternberger guy. Feel with all these other big names that he will fly under the radar as he was expected to declare. Feel same way about Wilcox as well.

I think this is the year we get a stud TE. We have an issue blocking and we have an issue recieving. A TE will help both of those areas of concerns
