I disagree....Ted is HOF worthy.  Name a better NT.  And no Fred Smerlas was not better

how many NTs are in

there are 25 or more other teams in the NFL to pick from through the years...

My initial gut reaction was:

"No.  He was a really good player.  But was never dominant enough to be in the Hall of Fame."

But then I tried to think of another Nose Tackle I've seen who was better.  (I've been watching the NFL for over 30 years).

I honestly couldn't think of one.  Not a single one.

Right I agree and that’s why I started this thread.  He improves the rushing defense of a team vastly.  More than most LB’s or DE’s

just did a little search for the best in history, here's one list:

  • Vince Wilfork, Patriots
  • Casey Hampton, Steelers
  • Haloti Ngata, Ravens
  • Ted Washington, lots of teams
  • Jamal Williams, Chargers and Broncos
  • Joe Klecko, who transitioned to NT for the Jets
  • Michael Carter, 49ers
  • Jay Ratliff, Cowboys

none of them thanks....

I may be biased but Ted is better than all those names.  Next closest is Vince Wilfork.  Same kind of player as Ted though

Initially I would say no, but I think he is at least as worthy as Cortez Kennedy and more worthy than either Fred Dean or Jason Taylor. May as well let him in.

I’m telling you - he was a difference maker!  Just look at the rankings of the defenses he played in vs. the run.  They were always among the best and he played for a lot of teams!

I had no clue he played for 16 seasons... wow!

And did so carrying about 340 lbs.  He said in an interview that his hips are feeling it.  I can’t imagine how they wouldn’t be.  Ditto for his knees and back.
