Yes, They need a balanced offense, but as MTC on NFLR stated yesterday afternoon prior to the game, this sounds like 1975 old school football. This is why I give the Colts a chance against the Chiefs as their secondary sucks. Luck can keep up with Holmes and had the second best QBR all year after Brees. It is the least insightful observation possible, that teams that play better win a particular game. Its a very silly straw man argument to suggest any thinks "defense doesn't matter" . However, its an indisputable fact that first MAKING the playoffs, then WINNING Championships correlates with top offensive teams more than top offensive teams. The main thing that seems to change in the playoffs is the level of intensity and watching teams playing with "win or go home" desperation. This is why it is impossible to judge players or coaches fully until the have a body of playoff experience. Playoff football has the same rules, but it is a different game. Those are the two best defenses in the playoffs. And their offenses are hardly high scoring. Is there anyone who actually thinks that the Dallas/Baltimore model is sustainable or preferable? Would you be more surprised by them and or Chicago missing next year's playoffs then KC/NO/LAR? None of us has ever said defense is useless, but you are building yourself for one run with no margin for error. Why take this path?
