Bills fire ST Coach Danny Crossman

I like the recent firings, it seems like unlike a lot of other administrations that McBeane knows what is wrong with the team from at least a coaching standpoint. Special teams was mediocre last year and outright horrid this year, its best to move on and build a new unit. Haush money is still a good kicker so you have the hardest piece in place, nab a good punter and a couple of specialists and the unit could easily turn around with proper coaching.

I think alot of us are baffled by the WR coordinator getting canned- maybe one of his missions was to fix Benjamin? Maybe early on he didnt assess Foster correctly- who knows but I found it odd as well.

The best I can think is early in the season he said he could get KB to perform and it never came to be.  I don't think it falls on Foster since Foster credited Rob with his development when he was benched.

Don’t get me wrong.  I like the switch up with coaches.

What I found intersting is that Beane really sold me on the poor 6-10 was part of the plan due to salary cap restrictions and limited talent.  I was really worried he believed that and everyone was going to get a pass on 2018.

Man this place is filled with thin skinned vipers yeah?  If it’s not 100% obvious gushing you really get the horns.  ?

Could be. Could also be you’re just a weak poster.

ST coaches also get input on what players to keep on the roster based on special teams needs.  He is responsible for coaching the players he has.  ST was a debacle this year in terms of coverage and return.  I do not put the punting issues or late season kicker issue on him, but damn, their coverage and return teams were an adventure all year.  Time to go in a new direction.

I agree. I won't blame punting or kicking issues on Crossman,  but he was directly responsible for some of the worst punt & kickoff coverages I've ever seen. Penalties,  players completely out of their lanes,  poor blocking downfield. He was worse than Castillo.

But have you tried a whole new staff?

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas ?

Yeah, a total mystery- we never know what happens behind closed doors or on the practice field either. Maybe his vision isnt online with McD- hopefully our O as a whole improves.

The torch and pitchfork crowd must be happy.

Folks around here have been calling for Crossman's head all season long.

Oh it has been much longer than that ! Never been a fan.

But McD needed to get something up and running when he took the reigns.

same with Castillo. he knew what he was going to get from the baseline and also both guys are Pros.

But the sign of of winning organization is to continually define and refine.

lets see who they bring in,as they surely have someone on speed dial already : )

Hate to see guys lose jobs , but if you can upgrade for the long term. Do it !
I approve of the releases.

He had to go.  The special teams make up a huge part of the game.  They were bad.  Epically bad.  The offense was historically bad till the Jets game.  Josh brought them around.  The defense had great numbers, especially considering the amount of time they spent on the field.

The OL rarely opened holes for the running game.  Our running stats are skewed by Josh's running.  Take out his runs, and we may have been worst in the league.  I don't have the time nor the desire to verify that.

You hire a coordinator and trust him to get the job done.  If he wanted better players, all he had to do was ask.  I was watching the LSU/UCF game yesterday, and Devin White, the best linebacker in college football, was making tackles on special teams.  Marv used to make every player except Kelly available for special teams.

Who we fire isn't the really important thing.  It's who we hire.

I'm confident that there guys out there better than Robiskie, Crossman, and Castillo.  But is that who'll end up with?

As of right now, we don't know if we've upgraded any of these coaching positions or - god forbid - downgraded.

I'm interested in the next steps.

Name the last time in recent years that a team that didn’t make the playoffs retained every assistant coach?  Assistant coaches  change all the time

Also....the Bill's had a winning record AND made the playoffs last year (ending a drought) and fired a coordinator! People have agendas.... I wonder what his was? Lol
