Why do people do this?

Look, I like JA, but "you are what your record says you are".  Jackson is QBing a playoff game tomorrow.  JA is sitting home watching it.

The Ravens were able to use Jackson in  a way that made them successful and more credit to them and to him.

Did LJax show he's a capable NFL QB?  No, no he has not yet.  But he did what he was asked successfully.  Ragging on LJax reeks of sour grapes until Allen does better.

Its not sour grapes at all. Jackson is a very small piece of what they are doing in Baltimore. Basically its play great defense, play good special teams, run the ball with RBs, run the ball with Jackson, throw the ball when needed giving him very defined reads and options or off play action.

Its the same thing as Tebow was asked to do. It works for now but if they think this is going to work for an extended period of time over multiple seasons they are kidding themselves. They probably realized Jackson isnt ready yet but they knew Flacco was done...better to get a head start early and then work in the off-season with him more to develop the QB skills. Yes he is winning games but that is in large part due to what's going on around him rather than him.

I didn't watch Tebow play regularly.  I've watched some of Jackson's games.  But IMO comparing Tebow and Jackson as QB is out of whack.

Lamar Jackson doesn't pass much, but he's completing more than half of the passes he attempts - 58%.

Tebow managed to complete less than 50% of the passes he was asked to throw in Denver.

That's not just "stat box scouting", anyone who has watched them can tell that Tebow can't pass while Jackson has real passing ability.

Whether Jackson can continue to develop as a QB able to operate a full NFL offense is an open question at this point, and yes he wouldn't be winning if he didn't have pieces around him, but you can say that of any QB and it's pretty clear from watching Ravens games with Flacco vs. Jackson that Jackson is the "little engine that could" sparking that team.

This is a very long sentence!

I'm not a Jackson fan, but the spark he's provided is undeniable.
