Star is a joke

from the D&C's Maiorana:

"The Patriots ran for 273 yards and averaged 6.1 per attempt, though through three quarters it was even worse and they had 248 yards and were averaging 7.8 yards. This is the third time this year the Bills have been torched for more than 200 yards rushing, and this was just 47 yards shy of the all-time team futility record of 320 rushing yards allowed in 1962. "

Sean is another failed coordinator turned over promoted head coach.  Maybe, he can respect his footballs and coach more physicality as a personal trainer going by McClappy.

I agree at 10 mil a year you need to be a playmaker. I see him being pushed backwards way too many times.

This is what passes for the process that and Trent Murphy getting knocked back too; without the juice you know Trent is just another overhyped steroid baby.

That can change though. Brady is done, Belichick is probably out the door soon so that leaves Josh McDaniels and a Bradyless team versus Josh Allen and Sean McDermott. Allen wont be a rookie forever. No QB in sight for NE in the 2019 draft they're all garbage. Frankly I don't think their situation is as desirable as ours.

Or, it could be McDaniel against a Belicheck and Josh Allen led team.  As it is Sean really isn’t that insightful or intelligent when assessing guys like Star or Murphy.  And, you’d think running some of Rex’s 4-3 linemen pass protection he might try to mix in a 4-6 to put pressure on shutting down the run.  But he Coaches to the level of his intellectualism of respecting footballs and you know checking his tapes or knowing he should have Coached physicality against Reich and the Colts.

You can have a good D and think an element is overpaid

A fair point, but the title is “Star is a joke” and the OP states “Absolutely has done nothing all year. And don’t tell me his just is to eat people up. He helps this team in no way”

KW is aging out.  You got an aged DL and one who is a “joke” who “absolutely has done nothing all year” and “helps this team in no way”, kind of hard to have a good D.

Good D starts on the lines, no?

Star and Trent slid straight down the depth charts into rotational duty.  Fair to say that McDermott doesn’t have the greatest assessment for talent.  As rotational guys are stepping up in big ways to make plays over them.  Star is a ten million dollar hit and Trent Murphy is a twenty million dollar hit whose already had banned substances in his system and is coming off an injury.  Had to wager say Trent’s body is breaking down from steroids and Star is just a guy who should be a gap filler but we overpaid.  Figure we offload them for picks might absorb that hit anyway but it’s better then what we’ve gotten.

Also fair.

Counterpoint - I don’t think there’s a team in the league without soft spots on their defense and I think that last lines a bit cliche, personally. Outside of a great qb, there are plenty of ways to build a contender and that includes cutting corners at nearly any position group as long as you properly scheme and plan for it

The best run stopper in a decade of colts football mightve been Peyton Manning as an example of non-conventional ways to control the inside of the trenches. They were able to scheme for shootouts on both sides.

I watch every single Bills just about, I missed a few when Allen went down because I'm not watching Derek Anderson sorry. But every game I've watched  Star has been good. It's that other spot next to him that needs an upgrade. Ed Oliver anyone? Or how about Quinnen Williams? How about a MLB? Edmunds  should be an OLB, he doesn't have the instincts to play inside. I think what happened today is a combination of Edmunds and Milano being injured rather than Star being bad.

Star was embarrassing today.  It's easy to set up a youtube video with clips.  Put yours together and I'll add to mine on Star.  He's not good and it's pretty obvious.

I hated the signing in FA and my opinion hasn't changed, there are plenty of space eaters that make half the amount he does and don't get pushed backwards imo.
