Patrick Peterson Trade Value

So I know this was already a thread but after 15 weeks of evaluation,  I was wondering if Patrick Peterson was worth trading for and how much you would pay for him.  I assume he still wants out in Arizona and it would be amazing to pair him with White. 2 years left on his contract (11 and 12 mil) before we have to re-sign anyone big.

Arizona would want a 1st which would be in the 5-8 range. Too, too rich........ maybe a 2nd this year and a 2nd next. His contract is more than doable.

 

Him and White would make them a Top 3 duo in the league but there way too many holes on offense to fill.

if Wallace finishes out the season the same way he's started I see no need here.

i'd say Arizona would be able to get a Kahlil mack(27) like trade for the Patrick Peterson(28).  Something like 2 first round picks or if dealing this years picks, a top ten and an additional second rounder. He single handedly removes most teams top offensive threat and he is on his way to the Hall of fame as well

If we can get PP at a reasonable trade cost, then I hope Beane does everything possible to get him.  I have seen various ranges of cost, anything from a first or first and some change to 2 second round picks, etc.  

 

Personally, I would in a heartbeat trade 2 second picks for Peterson.  I honestly wouldnt even be upset if we traded our first.  Here is why...we are almost certainly going to use a draft pick on a DB anyway if we dont fill the hole in FA.  And if we want a strong candidate to start, thats likely a premium pick in the first 3 rounds, some even suggesting we could use our first on Greedy.  So if there is a good chance we use a 1st or 2nd on a DB anyway, I would rather trade that for Peterson to insure we got an Elite Corner rather than an unproven rookie.  Most importantly, his contract is reasonable for us to take on and he is assured to be here for at least 2 years.

 

Adding PP takes our defense to a new level, we would have the potential to enter into ELITE territory like the Legion of Boom was for the Seahawks.  Teams like Seahawks, Giants (twice), Steelers (twice), Ravens, Broncos, etc in the last 15 years have shown how an Elite defense with at least a solid offense can win the SB, even several of those beating offensive powerhouses, include the two highest scoring offenses in NFL history by a combined score of 58-22.

 

And we keep seeing all year how defense is still important despite some premature declarations that defense is "dead" by many here.  Bears just punched the Rams right in the mouth, Ravens beat themselves or KC would have lost, Cowboys shut down Saints, etc.  Once playoffs get here, defense gets even more important.  Putting an Elite defense around Allen while also giving him some new protection and weapons to work with would make us a real contender next year assuming Allen makes the progressions we would expect with a better cast.

No one is going to pay that though for a DB IMO.  Rare and elite pass rusher like Mack is typically more coveted.  I think the best they will get is going to be a first, but more likely something like two 2nds or a 2nd and a 3rd/4th.  I could be wrong, but just don't see the same kind of deal for Peterson.

Are you getting Champ Bailey (who played well past age 29) or Darrelle Revis (who fell off a cliff after age 29)? Bailey will be 29 next season, and he's a speed guy. That would concern me at least a little. He doesn't seem like the sort of guy who can transition to safety either (and the Bills don't really need a safety at the moment).

I would have to disagree with this in that I would much rather trust McBeane to find a good veteran in free agency to fill the CB2, or if the options are draft Greedy or trade for Patrick Peterson, I would much rather draft Greedy.  Legion of Boom was drafted, and I fully believe McBeane can draft their version of Legion of Boom.

I can't imagine the Bills would trade for Peterson.   

 

McBeane are completely about building through the draft.   I don't see them trading picks for players.    Their style is to trade players for picks.  

 

What I expect to see is the Bills keeping or adding to their picks.   I expect they'll be active in free agency, going after guys coming off their first contracts, but not older guys.   (With a possible exception here or there.)

Yea he has been a pleasant surprise and this has largely been without the rookie stud at nickel, Taron Johnson. We might be set at secondary, although i am not a big fan of Bush in the Big Nickel..

As good as Peterson is, I’d rather trade for an offensive playmaker or linemen.  I also don’t think Peterson would be happy coming here.  If he leaves Arizona, he probably wants to go to a team ready to win.

obviously it hinges on how Wallace finishes this year, but he and Johnson are sooooo young and have played really really well.... next years secondary could be SCARY good.

 

i'm really excited for guys like him and foster. even mkcenzie for that matter.... really exciting seeing the potential plugs to holes before the season even ends.

Top 3? I'd be hard pressed to find a duo that's even close to White and Peterson. Jax and Rams (when healthy) wouldn't beat em.

I actually made a post that blew up a bit in late September about Taron, I was just so impressed by his physical ability, nose for the ball and coverage skill, even though things were looking dim at the time. The scary part is, he's been playing the majority of the year with a shoulder issue, I can only imagine how good he can be without that injury hampering him, i think that kid is super special, like Tre, except he's obviously a nickel which slightly decreases his value. And i agree on Wallace, if he finishes as strong as he's been, scary good is correct!

Tre is one of a handful of legit lockdown cb that follow the number 1 and he's only in year 2. Look at Lattimore for example who took a big step back this year, Tre has been a phenom since week 1 last year.

but that ain't happening. far more likely the bills trade down and recoup some draft capital they gave up for josh.
