Cut him because he's guilty of theft.

It's pretty sad what's happened to Clay.

He was exactly the kinda' guy Bills fans would root for coming out of Tulsa as a fullback prospect.

He's not a diva,  the dude blocks and has always put his body on the line..............but he's no rocket surgeon on the field.......I'd be hard pressed to remember a "heady" play he's made..........and they bought damaged goods and that combo is a recipe for plays like what happened Sunday.

He hasn't been incredibly terrible, esp considering his knees/  Little known fat, he he is the only bill TE to ever have three consecutive 500+ yards receiving.

...fair assessment......maybe it's time to see what this Towbridge kid has......bounced him around yet he's still sticking......don't remember much about him...

Towbridge signed with the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2017.[3] He was waived/injured on August 7, 2017 and was placed on injured reserve.[4]

On September 1, 2018, Towbridge was waived by the Bills.[5] He was re-signed to the practice squad on October 9, 2018.[6]

Clay is not sauntering around like KB - there's no message being sent by cutting him now.

His body has broken down and he isn't an effective player. But it isn't his fault he signed that contract - it's Doug Whaley's fault. We all know that the Bills will cut him loose in the offseason, but there is no reason not to let him finish the year.

The next play Clay makes will be the first.  Dude is stealing his money.

Yeah,  he's been a good player for the Bills.   Better than solid.   Just far below expectations.........which were probably a little too high to start with even if you discount the knee and back issues.    He doesn't deserve the Kelvin treatment.........though he might like the chance to catch on with a contender at the end of the season.

The worst part of this is that if he makes the catch, it's the beginning of the Josh Allen legend, reminiscent of Jim Kelly running in the winning touchdown against the Dolphins  as time expired in the late 80's.  The play becomes folklore.  Instead, it's just another chapter in the long history of Buffalo Bills incompetence.  I agree.  It's time for him to depart.

Almost identical career to Mario Williams. Physically gifted athletes who got softer and less interested as their careers went on. Get whatever you can for him asap. If nothing,  then cut his ass. He'll get paid again by some dumb team.

You guys are way out of control with this Charles Clay hatred.

He's a serviceable, overpaid tight end who appears to work hard. Until we find an upgrade, there is no reason to up and cut him because you're made about one play.

Yeah. And I'd argue he's really not a horrible tight end. Certainly a top 32 TE looking at some other teams around the league. Just couldn't make a play a lot of TE's can't do either.. he's also simply overpaid, that ain't his fault at all. he still puts in effort. Wouldn't claim otherwise.

He ain't Peterman useless is what I'm trying to say. Wondering how sorry we'll feel for Clay when he's cut lol, not feeling the love here we had for ole Pete

Clay had a great catch in 2016 in a comeback game against the Dolphins.

His first three years with the Bills were almost exactly the same as his prior production with Miami. The strange thing about Clay is that Bills fans acted like we signed Jimmy Graham in his prime and have perpetually been angry that Clay underperforms and Tyrod can't throw over the middle. It's not his fault that Whaley overpaid for him.

Never liked Clay. He does not impress as a pass catcher, and I cannot remember a time when he ever did......

can't have Benjamin's 'work ethic' around with a rebuild.

I do like that this regime cuts low effort guys. Dareus cut mid season last year, Benjamin (with ties to Carolina) cut 75% of the way through this year.

To address MD they went FA (Star L), rookie (H Phillips) and a waiver wire claim (Jordan Phillips). DT fixed.

I expect the same effort next year with WR.
