Cut Charles Clay RIGHT ***** NOW (and then hang up)

Recommended Posts

It's pretty sad what's happened to Clay.

He was exactly the kinda' guy Bills fans would root for coming out of Tulsa as a fullback prospect.

He's not a diva,  the dude blocks and has always put his body on the line..............but he's no rocket surgeon on the field.......I'd be hard pressed to remember a "heady" play he's made..........and they bought damaged goods and that combo is a recipe for plays like what happened Sunday.

He hasn't been incredibly terrible, esp considering his knees/  Little known fat, he he is the only bill TE to ever have three consecutive 500+ yards receiving.

...fair assessment......maybe it's time to see what this Towbridge kid has......bounced him around yet he's still sticking......don't remember much about him...

Towbridge signed with the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2017.[3] He was waived/injured on August 7, 2017 and was placed on injured reserve.[4]

On September 1, 2018, Towbridge was waived by the Bills.[5] He was re-signed to the practice squad on October 9, 2018.[6]

Clay is not sauntering around like KB - there's no message being sent by cutting him now.

His body has broken down and he isn't an effective player. But it isn't his fault he signed that contract - it's Doug Whaley's fault. We all know that the Bills will cut him loose in the offseason, but there is no reason not to let him finish the year.

The next play Clay makes will be the first.  Dude is stealing his money.

Yeah,  he's been a good player for the Bills.   Better than solid.   Just far below expectations.........which were probably a little too high to start with even if you discount the knee and back issues.    He doesn't deserve the Kelvin treatment.........though he might like the chance to catch on with a contender at the end of the season.

The worst part of this is that if he makes the catch, it's the beginning of the Josh Allen legend, reminiscent of Jim Kelly running in the winning touchdown against the Dolphins  as time expired in the late 80's.  The play becomes folklore.  Instead, it's just another chapter in the long history of Buffalo Bills incompetence.  I agree.  It's time for him to depart.
