Nah. Points are the most important thing, of course, but points allowed does NOT isolate the defense. Yards allowed does. Points allowed does not. Does three pick sixes thrown by Peterman mean the defense sucks? In any way? It does if you go by points scored. Does any points scored against the STs or the offense mean the defense stinks? It does if you go by this stat. If a Bills fumble is picked up and run back to the one yard line mean that the defense sucks if the opponent scores? It does if you go by this stat. Does a Bills fumble run back to the one yard line when the defense holds and forces a field goal reflect badly on the defense? It does if you go by this. The defense allowed three points, according to this measure. Field position is HUGE in scoring. Scoring is a whole team stat. It's probably 60 - 70% on the defense but the offense and STs are a huge component of points allowed. Yards on the other hand isolates the defense from the offense and STs very effectively indeed. Exactly, I wonder where we stand in the 3 and out category? Defenses get tired and Defenses cant win every game. This is two years in a row we became ball hogs, something many thought we would not do but yet here we are. plenzmd1 Posted November 14, 2018 Share Posted November 14, 2018 (edited) Rodak really is an idiot.He makes two points in here that are so diametrically opposed 1) Bills D is really not good cause PPG against ranks 19th in the league( that includes the Pick 6s etc) 2) Bills D stinks as the opposition has the best average drive start seen in the NFL since 2010 ..therefore the Bills cannot give up a lot of yards. So, of course, that plethora of short fields have nothing to do with PPG...i mean the logic there is truly staggering ..yea, the bills gave up 4 yards that dive and the opposition scored 3 points..Bills D stinks! Yep, DVOA rank is #2, but Bills D sucks ..BTW, DVOA takes into account a ton more than score and yards He truly is an idiot with that comment BTW, the Kansas City guy is not to smart either. Talks about all the KC sacks fails to mention when they come. Is it in the first quarter when came is close? Or are they coming 2nd half when the Chiefs are up by 10 or more? Because those points are not on the Defense. or very short field from a fumble turnover? Even if the D held them to 3 it's still easy points .
