I guess that depends on why your ripping on him. He’s won the lottery of life too, and he is light years more capable of being an NFL QB than this guy was.

He woudlve been a far better bridge to Allen than the other three jokers cycled through up until this past Sunday and is still the winningest Bills QB in a long time.

The problem with keeping Tyrod was that it's not good management to spend $16 million on a bridge unless you have a championship caliber team that you think can win in the bridge year. The Bills were up against the cap, in a rebuild, and could not afford the luxury of a $16 million bridge.  I think if Cleveland had to do it all over again, they would not be paying Tyrod all that money to sit on the bench after a total of 3 bridge games.  They could have played Drew Stanton before Mayfield came in and saved a ton of $.

Because Peterman was literally the only option left.

Going into the season with Peterman and Allen is like living on a mountain in the northeast and having your primary winter vehicles being a bicycle and a scooter.

Joe Dibiase of WGR 550 summed up Peterman situation perfectly in his Five Strikes Your Out article.

https://wgr550.radio.com/articles/opinion/five-strikes-youre-out

"Looking back on Peterman's time in Buffalo, none of it is really his fault. He should have never been put in the spots he was put into. That is on the Bills, not him. If he goes to some random team like the Dallas Cowboys, Seattle Seahawks, or whoever in the fifth round, he most likely still wouldn't have played and isn't a national punchline."

"Now that Peterman's time in Buffalo appears over, it'd be nice to see another team pick him up, and give him the proper time and tools to develop. He seems like a nice guy and a good guy. It can't be easy going through what he has in the last 12 months. The ironic thing is, his being such a good guy may have been what got him so many chances in the first place."

What a bunch sentimental crap. Peterman never should have been put in a position he spent his entire athletic life preparing for? Go to another team that will give him the "proper time and tools to develop?" Spare me. The world is littered with nice guys who just weren't good enough to cut it.

There's no reason why Peterman ever should have become a national punchline, regardless of his ability as a QB or not. And that's on us as a society. But there's no reason to offer up excuses for his performance, either. That's the last thing Peterman needs and, given his apparent abundance of character, the last thing he'd ask for.

Dude was put in a bad position and he just wasn't good enough to cut it at a pro-level at least not without many years of development. I think Peterman's biggest issue was his lack of arm strength and how in over his head he was in general which led to bad decision making. McD's biggest flaw as head coach has been how poorly he has handled the QB situation. He made a panic move by taking out Tyrod when they hit a tough part of the schedule and Tyrod had a ***** receiving core which made his limited play even more limited. Peterman was overexposed and it clearly shell shocked him the rest of his career. McD then made a 3 way QB competition (which was a mistake, AJ should have just been the starter and given Allen the other reps, McD should have known that Peterman's good off-season play wasn't going to translate to the NFL one year later.)

Then there was the lack of a veteran QB after the AJ trade and the fact that he got fooled twice by Peterman's pre-season play. McD's bad handling of the QB situation was evidenced by Peterman's career being historically bad but I do think that Peterman would have stood a chance at a NFL career had he been treated like a 3rd string QB for at least his first 2-3 years in the league. Instead McD overvalued him twice and that put him in vastly over his head.

Dibiase isn't making excuses for Peterman. He is stating Peterman never should have been put in the spots he was put in. How can you expect a rookie to play well in an offense that an experienced veteran like Tyrod Taylor could not even play well in? A smart coach never pulls Tyrod and gives a start to Peterman.
