Bills might very well be the worst offensive team in NFL history compared to the era they play in

2 mind numbing stats:

1) There are only 4 QBs who have thrown at least 3 more INTs than TD passes this season. 3 of them are on the Bills and the other is Jameis Winston who got benched.

2) The Bills are on pace to have 6 TD passes and 26 INTs for the season. The other 31 teams are on pace to average 29 TD passes and 14 INTs

Might?

I've mentioned it in other threads as well, but have a look at our 1971 stats.  Arguably the worst season in Bills history.

At the halfway mark of this season, we are on pace to be worse than 1971 in terms of point differential.

We were -210 in 1971 (14 game season).

We are currently -113.

Our opponent on Sunday, the Bears, are currently +50.

We are on pace to end up with fewer INT's than the Browns did already, we'd actually have to increase our INT rate...

Only by 2.  But consider, the Browns' rate of INTs last season was 4.9% whereas ours is 5.4%.

Also, contrast that with Cleveland's TD% last season was 2.6% and they had 15 TDs to our pace for 6 and our TD% of 1.2%.

Should be an interesting 2nd half of the season to be sure, and not in a good way.

Even in light of the lack of offensive talent...its still amazing.  You'd think a team would be able to luck into a few TDs here and there but man, nothing is working this year.

It’s the football gods punishing us for making the playoffs last year.

Every historic offense or defense needs a name: the K-Gun, the 46, the steel curtain, the Tampa 2, the Flex Defense, the Greatest Show on Turf, etc. etc.

My vote: The Tecmo Bowl offense.

Imagine scoring less than 200 points and giving up 400.  That's 84-85 Bills territory there for a 16 game season.

Not even DJ or the Chan/Buddy years rivaled that.

Yeah but the NFL was much different then.........MUCH less parity..........no salary cap to even rosters out.......smart teams could hold star players in perpetuity and stash developmental players for years on end.......all those guys end up getting re-distributed in free agency now.

There was an excuse then.

There isn't now.

What we are seeing now in an era of high powered offenses is awe-inspiringly bad offense from the Bills.

What choice do you have?

To not trust them and be critical of their poor performance?

Do you think your unwavering support of Jauron and Chan and Rex has made any positive impact or difference at all?

Because it hasn't.

None of it matters..........it's just a product and a pastime.
