Sal Maiorana: Tremaine Edmunds "A Legit Star in the Making"

Recommended Posts

He's good...just not at MLB. He's being wasted there. He doesn't have the instincts or the toughness to plug gaps and take on blockers. He will be a great OLB when they wise up and make the move. The problem is they don't have anyone else who can play in the middle. Looking forward to when the next coaching regime comes in and we get to see him be an all purpose athlete on the outside wreacking havic

Up til last week, he was.  He was picked on last week.  He and Milano looked pretty bad from my seat on the couch.  Seemed to like reich told luck to attack those guys all day and he did.  Poyer also missed on a few crucial plays

yeah , luck played mind games with those two and had them out of position all day.  was that m. mack on the top of the screen with no one within a mile?

also, poyer seemed to put the defense's attitude on display with his kb kind of effort on that touchdown pass.

It's not exactly fun to watch and spend money on a horrible team while hoping that they may be good in 2, 3, 8 years. There are bright spots and I agree that Edmunds is one of them, but people have every right to complain.

Hey, complain away... I’m no hall monitor. People will complain, and in Bills Land they love to. At the same time, I can make fun of the simpleton cynics if I so choose. This is no longer Wilson’s team. Pegula has had the franchise for only 4 years. Give it time. Yeah, he had a rookie mistake in hiring Rex. He’s made up for that, I believe. If Beane/McDermott are still failing in Year 4, then by all means call for their heads. I’ll likely be there too. But, this is a long term project with a small market team with a whole lot of bad luck. They need time... unfortunately, today’s fanbase has NO patience for long term process. Call it instant gratification addiction (people get what they want, when they want these days at home). Doesn’t work that way with fandom. Takes time to build a real team. The armchair GMs who are calling for heads after 24 games have NO clue about long term strategy. Let them work on the offense now, with several draft picks, salary cap space finally and a young defense that looks pretty solid (with a few more tweaks). If Allen is not progressing by late 2019-early 2020, and there are still MAJOR issues, then by all means, look at another GM/HC solution. But this knee jerk, short attention span, black and white millennial type impatient rage is folly. Learn some patience.. or wash, rinse, repeat every 2-3 years.

Having said that, I believe Edmunds will be a great player... We’ll see on Allen/the offense. Give it some time, for F’s sake... the b**chiness is getting irritating.

So you watched like 2 games so far this year is what you are saying........

All or nothing.....gotta love it.

He has to improve.  Personally I think he will.  I also am aware there is a difference between thinking and knowing.

This guy is so young and starting, I don't see him making that many mistakes out there. With the way the NFL is trending with passing attacks running wild I think in a few years he will be the best at what he does.

So do I. I think the majority of his issues right now are not wanting to make mistakes, he gets caught out of position imo because he's overthinking his reads/responsibilities. Once he lets his instincts adjust to the pro speed and gets a season's worth of looks under his belt I think he's going to dominate.

I would trade Tre, Edmunds, and Allen for Mahomes and possibly Watson. ?

Then we could complain about watching Allen dominate with Hunt/Hill/Kelce or Hopkins/Fuller while Mahomes and Watson struggle with Benjamin et al. Plus if we did that the Chiefs would actually have a defense, and the Texans would probably be the best defense in the league...imagine them with Clowney/Watt up front, Edmunds in the middle, and a shutdown corner in White taking away half the field.

The same Watson we stomped two weeks ago? The same Watson that has the best wide reciever in the league with a solid offensive mind in O Brian? That Watson?

This board is so how did the player play in the last game......

OVERALL through all the games he has been pretty darn good...not just for a rookie but for a starter

You can go just by one game and say "Duhhhhh  well if he wasnt better then his last game....Duhhhhhh"

I am sorry John I just don't agree. That isn't what is on the tape. He has been misdiagnosing plays and in the wrong position pretty consistently. He played well in Minn and decent in Houston... other than that he has been pretty bad. A lot of it can be attributed to a rookie who is only 20 and very much learning on the job, it isn't panic time.

I just think it is totally unfair to say fans are only looking at last week.

Gunner you and I both know that a lot of these posters are looking at last week

the thing is the kid is so damn athletic that he makes up being out of position with freak speed and this defense is not top 10 dova without him

as he gains experience it’s just gonna get better

I don't see them moving him.  The modern NFL defense only plays two LBs.  Milano is doing too well at OLB for the Bills to play games with Edmunds.  If they drafted another MLB, I think it would only be for depth.

Yeah that's the problem............if he's not a MLB.......which me might not be if you actually watch all of the mistakes he makes........then he's overqualified athletically for OLB.........where they already have a more instinctive player in Milano.

That's why I see it as MLB or edge rusher.

We've seen plenty of freakish young players(20-21 year olds) drafted by the Bills who looked like future HOF'ers very early on.........and you didn't have to squint as hard to see it as you do with Edmunds.......and all of those guys ended up out the door with a "good riddance" from much of the fanbase.

Correct.  He either cuts out 95% of the mistakes by the middle of next season or you make him an edge rusher - it's one or the other.  I think the Bills drafted him understanding that his "floor" was an Uber-athletic passrush specialist.

ppl so easily forget that the word on the board was our linebackers were sorely lacking.....then Preston Brown left in free agency.

Nobody is saying that now......

Exactly. And even as of late I've seen people saying they should've kept Brown and drafted an offensive player over Edmunds.

I think Brown is a decent LB but he doesn't have the athleticism to regularly run with RBs or TEs which is something McDermott's system asks for from the linebackers. I think they definitely see a "do it all" player in Edmunds.
