Why cant it be both? Of course the reporter had the right to ask the question, and he had the reaction I would want my player to have.

So you want players to lie?  He was clearly laughing on the bench in Q4 in a losing effort.  His reaction is phony.  He was just pissed because he did not realize he would not be called out on it.  Personally I don't want players who are yucking it up on the bench the Bills are losing or doing a frigging sack dance or end zone celebration when the team is down by three touch downs late in the game.  Clowns belong in a circus.

People handle things differently. He could have been laughing at something unrelated. Maybe the teammate saw he was mad and said something to make him laugh. Hence it was a valid question from the reporter. Him not liking the insinuation that he didnt care about losing and reacting that way is also appropriate. I dont see how this is necessarily an either or option

Or instead of acting like a douche, he could have answered the question, like a proper professional.

well thats one way to look at it, if you want.

I personally like the fire coming from a player when he is being questioned on whether he cares about losing or not

Its was not fire.  It was personal embarrassment on being called out for clowning around during a losing effort.   Anger is not fire.

And I really love it when reporters get what they asked for. Jim Everett punches out Jim Rome!!

I really dislike Jim Rome.

Ehhh...Everett came at Rome like a wuss.  Weakest “fight” I have ever seen, but funny regardless.

I don’t have a problem with the reporter’s question or Derek’s response.

Football is very serious.  If a team is losing, every player on that team should be upset to the point of wanting to break things and/or cause their family pets bodily harm.

If a team is losing and every player on that team is NOT angry, homicidal or suicidal, then those players should be tarred, feathered and hanged.

Because football is very serious.

Grrrrr.

Did you ever see the movie Fever Pitch? Long story short it's about a Red Sox fan during the 2004 season. They go out to the bar after the 3rd loss in the ALCS. Fans are depressed. Then they see Johnny Damon, and a few other players, smiling, laughing, and eating dinner on the other side of the bar. Then he realizes if the players don't take it that seriously, why should the fans?

If you called a staged stunt a fight ...   well  OK then.   Not that I watched a lot of Rome back then, but that totally put him on the list of don't listen to unless forced to.   Homies
