Of course nobody thought he would be a top 10 QB, but most thought he could move the ball some for a few weeks until Allen was ready. Expectations were pretty low, and he couldn't even meet those. Trading draft compensation for an old backup QB named Ryan Fitzpatrick is practical? It's anything but that. Fitzpatrick would not have to put the team on his shoulders with this defense and that might cut down on some of his turnovers. They are not trading picks away for stop gap. If there was no intention of giving Anderson any playing time they could have just signed him on as an assistant qb coach, and thus saved the roster spot.
