Buffalo's First Half Play Calling: Run/Pass Balance (10/14/18)

First Quarter:  11 passes vs. 3 runs.

Second Quarter: 10 passes vs. 1 run.

Great game plan ....................... for an offense led by Brady or Brees.

I'm sure I'm oversimplifying, here, but our two wins had one thing in common: we ran the ball.  A lot.

This isn't a "we need to fire Daboll," cry.  I'll say that in the Fire Daboll thread.

I would just like to understand why, as a team, the Bills can't see that establishing a run game has led to good things this season; why, with a rookie QB and a mediocre (at best) WR corps, is the coaching staff hell-bent on passing the ball so much?

The play calling on offense - specifically in the first half - has been one of my major sources of frustration whilst watching the Bills this season.

I am certainly not a NFL coach but I am not sure what defense Houston was playing, if they have 8 in the box its almost impossible to run-maybe they needed to spread defense out...…..

They (Texans) were doing well against the run.    Josh had a relapse.  One bad game, one good game, rinse and repeat.

There were 4 runs in the first half.  “They we’re stopping the run” is not acceptable when you only run 4 times

Last week they had 42 runs IIRC.   It worked but only 20 passes.

Maybe the coaches though the Texans secondary was poor enough to try it.

How many total plays in the first half?  I'm guessing not many.
