They better hope there's a QB of who's good enough to justify drafting with a high 1st round pick in the '19 draft.  Either way, it's a legit question to entertain with Gettleman subject to criticism.   I think he made a mistake in the long term regardless of Barkley being a fantastic talent.

When isnt there someone good enough to justify drafting in the 1st? It's much rarer to have a year where there isnt one then when there is one worth taking a chance on (they may not always work out though). People talked about Winston/Mahommes draft being weak for QBs in the 1st, even Wentz and Goff weren't thought of being cant miss choices.

Tou can never go wrong drafting a cant miss extremely talented player. Outside of week 1 against the Lions, Darnold hasnt looked great, Allen is being discussed on whether he should sit again for a bit, Rosen hasnt shown anything special. Barkley is already being considered one of the best RBs playing right now. This idea that you have to have the QB in place before you can obtain the surrounding talent is not a smart way of doing things. You get talent when it's available to you. The Giants got one of the top players in this draft, it wasnt a bad pick because the player wasnt a QB

You are incorrect about both Darnold and Rosen.  Darnold threw three TD passes last game and connected on deep throws. He's looked good with some expected rookie bad mixed in.  Rosen's 1st start was excellent and he's already showing advanced NFL QB traits that were on display at UCLA.  Drafting the RB over either will in the long run prove to be a mistake IMO.

We’ll see.  Maybe the Giants didn’t particularly like Rosen, Allen or Darnold, and if none of those guys turns into a franchise QB, then they might have been right to pick Barkey, who is definitely living up to expectations.  But if the Giants aren’t able to get their QB of the future in this draft, they’re going to be seriously criticized, no matter how good Barkley is.

They can still obtain a QB in FA or trade this offseason to take over until the are able to get someone else in the draft too. They can be criticized, but it doesnt mean that those criticizing are right. Having a player like Barkley to take the pressure off the QB will help make a young  QB look better. Would Goff look as good as he has without having Gurley and instead some scrub RB?

Giants will be picking top 5 in 2019 I would assume Manning is gone in 2020  They draft some OL help and good to go  On offense they have a stud RB, stud true #1 wr and what looks to be a stud TE though he was out last night.

And if anything, last nights game just lowered the offer the Eagles would have been willing to give the Bill's for McCoy. They arent desperate for another running back like Bill's fans might like to believe so why would they overpay? They know the Steelers would love to get rid of the Bell headache, and Buffalo loves dumping talent for cap space/deadcap money and draft picks. They make the call, find out what's the lowest they can obtain one of them for and sit still if it's too much.

I’d say it’s the opposite.  Eagles showed they are a contender despite Smallwood’s 18 carries for 51 yards and 1 fumble.  Bell or McCoy can put them over the hump.  I doubt they trade draft picks for a RB if they looked like crap and fell to 2-4.  If they want to challenge the Rams in NFC, they’re gonna need an upgrade over Smallwood.

You can't say this team beat this team so we should beat them in the NFL. It doesn't work that way.

When a bad team beats someone that says a lot about the team who was beaten.  If Arizona were to beat Kansas City tomorrow a lot of people will be questioning whether or not KC is starting to decline.

I agree with this. After the first month, the Eagles now know that Wentz is back and that a repeat Super Bowl is a very realistic scenario. Smart teams in that position realize that you need to make those couple moves that can put you over the top. If not McCoy, it'll be Bell or some other somewhat lesser RB, but they're not going to stand pat.
