Another misjudgment on talent by McD.  Lawson has outplayed Murphy all year long. How a PED guy fits the process I have no idea.

Should start either Lawson or Alexander to LDE and move Murphy to LB.

He's been good so far this year. They should use him in more 5 and 6 techniques on the outside. He's never going to be good for some people because they only see sack numbers. Five to eight sacks for Lawson would be great for his position. Bills have to keep using him inside as well. He could be Brandon Graham type for them.

Murphy isn't a 4-3 linebacker.  He played decently when he was on the field as DE.

Murphy has been fine. And Lawson is becoming a guy. Good problem to have. Glad we didn't ditch him on principle, the principle being "Whaley drafted him".

From Sal Capaccio:

DE Shaq Lawson

Lawson continues to have solid game after solid game as he starts in place of the injured Trent Murphy.  Often times his play hasn’t shown up in the stat sheet but it did Sunday.  Lawson registered three total tackles, including one for a loss, a sack, two QB hurries, and a pass breakup.

Credit where credit is due. Shaq has been balling out this year. Seeing Jason Babin and Jerry Hughes succeed after their original teams gave up on them had me worried that iwould happen with Shaq. Glad we didn’t give up on this kid!

Had quite a few people throwing dirt on his Bills' career by calling for his release or trade.  Now crickets from the lot of them.

Ik right? Feels like no one is giving him his credit. He got healthy put his head in the game and has been noticeablely better. Very happy for Shaq

He has played well this season, which has surprised me given his previous form...

They will have a call to make in the offseason to pick up his 5th year option for 2020...

Do they do it?

Would be around $10-11 Mil...

Think they will have the cap space free...

I've been a critic but there was an angry contingent that grew in the past year who basically saw him as worthless..........and he's never been that.

He improved his get-off and has looked much stronger and more explosive.    His stats still look very similar but last year he was not good.......even those modest stats were misleading.

His pass rush repertoire still leaves plenty to be desired and a good deal of the action he's gotten in that regard is due to the push that the interior DL is giving......not allowing QB's to step up and and away from Shaq's rather basic edge rush.

It's going to be very interesting to see how far he advances the rest of the season and if the Bills will pick up that $10M+ option year.

They have cap space TO BURN in the next couple of seasons but the reality is that they may have to replace Hughes in a couple years and THAT may be a $20M/yr deal if they do it in FA and then they might not want to be paying another $10M+ for a bookend who doesn't pile up sacks himself.

2016 wants its tired quote back.

on a positive note he didn't play the "Super Bowl" card, or the "Championship" card.

Those are older than Bill Bellycheck's gameday wardrobe.

Remember the thread before the season about him wanting to be a Pro Bowl caliber player & help take the team to the next level? Yeah, he got ridiculed & torn apart by people on here, mocking him for simply stating he wanted to better himself & work hard to do so.

Glad I wasn't one of them, and glad his efforts are paying off.

Edit: Here's the thread, all 13 pages -
